Clothes size for a small baby

Just that really. A quick question to those who had small babies around 5lb-6lb.
I'm expecting a small baby. I'm 33+2. Going for regular growth scans and the last one showed that her tummy has tailed off a little bit. She measures just under 10th centile and is 4lb5oz according to the scan.
I've got another scan next week. Dr will consider induction on or just after 36 weeks if the growth is still slow.
I have bought loads of baby clothes but most are 0-3 months and I reckon she might drown in those.
What size would I need for a baby this small? Tiny or premature?

Just be aware scans aren't particularly accurate. DD1 was estimated at 6.5-7lb and came out just over 5.
We bought some premature baby outfits mostly second hand as babies grow out of them v quickly.

We had tiny baby I think, but was 10 years ago so can't really remember!

We had tiny baby and possibly prem - I remember mothercare had some lovely things!

We had tiny baby for a 5.10oz but they were too big and ended up going to get a premie baby grow, think we had a couple of them and interchanged them with the tiny baby ones.

remember you don't need proper outfits currently just some pj styles :)

The bigger asda stores do tiny stuff!! Loads!!

I am aware that the estimates might be incorrect and I would be more than happy if that was the case and silently hoping that she will be bigger. However, it might be correct. My bump is also measuring smaller.

My other two were 7lb and 8lb and both tall so I have no ideas how small is 5lb baby.
Because I have bought loads of 0-3 I thought a few smaller ones just in case but have no idea which ones to buy.

Most supermarkets now stock tiny baby from 5lb ranges in the basics of cardis baby gros and vests.

if baby is small 0-3 will definitely be too big. get some newborn (even by overdue 8lb7oz baby wore newborn for 4 ish weeks) and a few small or tiny baby size.

Find a source of small nappies locally, or order some in advance - we had trouble finding the size 0 ones and the newborn size were so big on dd1 that they contained precisely nothing.

The weights on the labels are more use than the ages. From memory I think 0-3 was about 10lb. Newborn about 8lb. Tiny about 6 or 7lb. Asda and others do smaller if you need although I'd just get a few cheap packs to start you off.

0-3 months are fairly big anyway - we had newborn (or up to one month) clothes lent to us, and even they proved too big for DD, who was born at 6 lb 8, but dropped to 5lb10 - I would have just let her be in the newborn clothes which were a bit big, but DM ordered us some tiny baby, from 5lb up, when she saw DD. She only wore them for about 3 weeks though, so you'd want the bare minumum (we had 6 vests and 6 sleep suits, and used newborn ones if we ever ran out).

Hm and next both do "up to one month" with hm sizes tiny and next a tad more generous.

I dont know anyone whose had a baby that fit into 0-3 on arrival!!

Forgot to add I unexpectedly had a 36 weeker so only had big stuff (hospital told me he'd be 10lb plus) so we were kept in just over a week and people brought me stuff. Hospital will have nappies etc if size 0 is too small.

As previous poster said its best to look at the weights on the lables. DS was 3lb 8 when he came home. Even some tiny baby was too big. Was looking for a friend on Matalan and their smallest still seemed to for 5lb or over

Meant to add I just got used to everything being a bit big and having to roll sleeves up. Good news though get more wear out of them 😃

My twins were 6lb6 and 6lb11 and were too big for Early Baby but fitted Tiny Baby for a while - I think Tiny Baby do go up to about 7lb5 at Mothercare at least. We had 10 packets of size 0 nappies and I'm sure we used nearly all of them even though I think they only fit to about 6lb (but there were two babies to get through them!).

My ds was 7lb at his smallest and even he had around 2 weeks in newborn clothes and about 6 weeks in up to 1 month clothes. 0-3 month clothes would have drowned him.

Asda have a lovely range and it's very reasonably priced. We had some tiny baby bits I think they were up to 6.5lb but there was much smaller too.

H & M do lovely baby clothes and they do have some very very dinky sized stuff for newborns x

DS was 2.5kg. He was in prem baby stuff to begin with. The 0-3 months was far too big until he was about 2 months.
