My daughter started nursery last week ( 2 mornings, monday and tuesday ) She has been unwell since thursday and on saturday spots appeared on her legs, feet and wrist. I took her to the doctors who said she had chicken pox. I have now been told by someone from the same nursery that it is actually hand, foot and mouth virus that is going round. Apparantly it is not dangerous to children and she will make a full recovery but as I am pregnant I wondered if it can be dangerous to the baby. Has anyone any experience of this please?

It's usually a pretty mild virus (for most children anyway) ...can't imagine it would have an effect on pg,but bumping for you for someone who might know more

Dd had it when I was around 12 weeks pg so I did a fair bit of looking up about it - there was no evidence that it harms pregnant women that I could find and most adults are immune anyway.

Thank you, I was worrying because I have had some bleeding again today and wondered if the two could be connected

My DD had this around the the beginning of my pg. Apparently it's harmless.

There may be a very small risk in late pregnancy though.
