Dental work while pregnant ???

Iv had a poorly tooth for months now had fillings in witch have only fell out numerous off times well today my filling has come put once again i want to get it took out as im at more off risk off infection i have a really weak amune system just wondering if it got infected before tgey took it out would it affect my baby ?? Im 14+5

Dental work is free while pregnant presumably because teeth can deteriorate. Speak to your dentist if you are worried

I saw my dentist for a routine check up when I was 6 weeks and he said that generally they won't do any non essential work in pregnancy but that if anything did need to be done then they would do it in the second trimester. Definitely worth having a chat with your dentist as an infection could be more risky than having the tooth out.

I broke my tooth at 24 weeks, I've got to wait until 6 weeks after my due date to have it mended but it isn't giving me any pain, they said if it started to hurt come back but otherwise it would be better to wait.

Swill with coconut oil. Chew cloves.

If you have metal filings ideally they should not be touched during pregnancy if possible.

It wasnt a propper filling was a temporary one till i had it took out but i got pregnant so i couldnt get it out as i suffered bad morning sickness being sick almost everyday and ot would off jst ended up infected. iv read online that its safe after the second trimester i cant wait till after iv had baby as im at high risk off infection iv got a dental apointment wednesday so hopefully they pull it

I had a bad tooth since before I got pregnant, then it broke around 20 weeks and they offered root canal or removal. I had the root canal done, baby kicked and thumped when i was turned upside down n the chair but is otherwise fine!

I had an extraction whilst pregnant. It was a baby tooth that has been wobbly for years and I wasn't able to hold on to it any longer.

My dentist wasn't in the least bit phased by me being pregnant. Hope it all goes well for you.

If you're an NHS patient you might want to check what proof of pregnancy they require for free treatment. Ideally it'd be the matb1 or an exemption certificate but my dentist seemed happy to go with a bump and an offer of a look at my maternity notes. I felt there was some discretion in that though.

I am 20 weeks pregnant. I am so dissapointed. Seen a dentist three weeks ago, they did a check up and nothing else. You need to pay for a Hygene test...and they didn’t see anything else wrong... even if i need a polish and scale and i have a cavity also...
I thought it was probably the dentist.
So today i went to a different one. Same. Nothing wrong , all perfect. I insisted on a scale and polish( he looked at his assistant with a disgusted face)
Eventually i had a “mini scale”as he said.
They didn’t even offer me water to rinse my mouth after they did the 2 minutes treatement.

Usually before my pregnancy i used to go to dentist and they would not stop saying about how many things i need to do in my mouth. Weirdly now it’s all perfect and nothing needs doing.
I think NHS should mention what sort of services a dentist should offer to a pregnant women.
