Will I feel my baby move?

Hi guys, I had my 12 week scan yesterday and when reading my notes saw I have an anterior placenta. I felt my first baby moving from around 16 weeks and she's now really excited to feel her baby brother or sister, but now I'm a tad worried she might not be able to enjoy this experience. Does anyone else have experience of an anterior place ta? And if so, did you still feel plenty of movements inside and out?

I had an anterior placenta with my last and I felt the first movement at around 18 weeks. Depending on his position the movements could be felt quite clearly but in some positions they were not as clear. The children still got to feel bumps and kicks. Enjoy your pregnancy

Yep, I felt definite movement from 23 weeks.

I had anterior placenta with my 2nd. I did feel fewer movements (realised this after dc3 beat me up for 6 months!) but still felt some. Also felt what my midwife described as him resting his head on the placenta, this weird low down rolling feeling.
Mine was low and to the right, and even now I have a weird shape to my stomach on that side, like it stretched more on the side where the placenta was.

I had an anterior placenta and felt next to nothing the whole pregnancy. It was highly stressful as I couldn't count the kicks and ended up having a lot of monitoring bale cause of it. I think I felt kicks inside and out maybe 5 times and my husband only a couple. I wish they had told me I had one and that I may not feel kicks!

Yes I started to get tiny flutters at 17 weeks and now get lots of kicks at 22 weeks, but they can't be felt by DH. It's my first so I don't know any different.

I felt proper movements at about 22 weeks, and they got clearer and stronger as the weeks went by. Towards the end, I could feel where her little bottom was and where her head was. I didn't get really uncomfortable or painful movements though, so there was a silver lining!

I have an anterior placenta too. The doctor did tell me I might not feel movement until around 24 weeks. I'm 23 weeks today and I've been consistently feeling movement since 20 weeks. Often it feels more inside and low down... if that makes sense. Definitely a different feeling than I had with my first. They are getting really strong now and my DH felt them for the first time last night which I'm surprised about. I think baby might have been in a funny position because I actually had a bump. He's moved again and today I'm feeling the kicks very very low down and my belly is flat again.

I have an anterior placenta - felt first movements at 17 weeks. Now 23 weeks and getting strong regular movement. It's more around the sides and lower abdomen than the middle. Ask your sonographer at the 20 week scan to show you where the placenta is, it'll give you a better idea of where to expect movement and where the blank bits will be.

If an anterior placenta, I started feeling movements at 19 weeks, popping fluttering feelings and I'm currently 25 weeks and when DP rests his hand on my bump her can definitely feel them. Can tell he's feeling it cos his eyes go all misty 😍 If I rest my brew on my bump baby likes to have a jab at it!

I have one too (currently 33 weeks). I felt movement quite early but the feelings were and are very sporadic. I can often feel from outside but not inside. Sometimes I feel nothing and get really upset and anxious. Sometimes it is crystal clear she is there and I can see her moving under my skin. So my experience is that I get plenty of clear movement, it's just not very consistent.

I've been to hospital twice so far to get reduced movement checked out.

Mabel much as I would love to take the credit, it was actually advice from my midwife It has been very reassuring though!

I started feeling movement at 16 weeks and get a lot of kicks now at almost 23 weeks - even woke me up this morning and I'm a heavy sleeper!

All kicks are low down though.

DH has been able to feel it once too.

I had no idea i had an anterior placenta until I saw my 20 week scan report. It's my first so have nothing to compare to.

Yes! I had one with dc2 and felt movement from 23 weeks.

I have a low anterior placenta but I felt movement from around 12-13 weeks. I didn't even know I had an anterior placenta until baby started to engage and the movement reduced (as the placenta is low!). I have a very very active baby, both inside and out.

I felt movement at 21 weeks & definite daily movement from about 23-24 weeks. Its never really affected my movements, although he does have quieter days but i think thats more down to a lazy baby because i feel strong kicks and the littlest movement x

Try not to worry too much. I had an anterior placenta at 12 weeks and was really worried too. Then I had placenta previa at 20 weeks and then a totally normal one at 32 weeks! Yours could well move too.

I had an anterior placenta and rarely felt anything... Occasionally, I thought I felt something, but could never be sure. I'm a size 10-12 and only put on 7lbs (baby weighed 6lbs 4oz), so I guess she didn't have much room for gymnastics.

I have an anterior (high) and I had the same worry but started to feel movements around 18 weeks or so, and DH could feel them a few days later. First pregnancy so nothing to compare it so, but I've felt pretty strong movements consistently (28 weeks now) - it's stronger when I lie down. DH can feel the baby kicking/punching, and generally rolling over; and if I lie with my bump against his back, then he can feel it kick and punch him. Don't worry too much - everyone's experience is different, but anterior doesn't mean you definitely won't feel anything.

My doctor told me the placenta was anterior but that very often it rises up to the top... I hadn't heard that before and it's reassuring as am thinking I'll need a section... Anyway I'm 17-18 weeks and have felt a few little blips and rolls but not every day. It's my second

I had an anterior placenta and barely felt any kicks which I was a bit sad about. My son was pretty big for my frame so he didn't have much room to move so the combination meant I didn't feel much.

I'm 30 weeks with an anterior placenta. I barely felt anything until 27 weeks other than the odd movement on the odd day. Midwife said from 28 weeks I need to call the ward if I've not felt anything by tea time (every day if need be) as it's their biggest welfare check on the baby. Since 27 weeks, baby is clearly much stronger and making him/herself more present so I've usually felt something by lunch or mid afternoon. DP has felt too as we seem to get either nothing or MASSIVE movements. At my 28 week check, the midwife felt the baby through the heart doppler too as it took a dislike to being prodded.
It's a longer wait than for those with placentas elsewhere but as the baby gets stronger, the placenta pillow effect lessens.
