Scan @ 5wks 1day. What did you see?

Got a scan (internal) on Wednesday. Curious to see what others experiences were? I had one at 4+1 and they seen a little sac and my HCG was 854, then one at 4+3 and the sac was bigger but no yolk etc and HCG was 2000+ ... They set the next one up as the midwife said she expected to see more the 2nd time so im wondering what they are looking for! 😊

I had one at 5+2 (internal) and they managed to see heartbeat very faintly...they did say before they started that it's usually 6+ to see a heartbeat so not to worry if they didn't. Good luck!

Thanks, do you think they expect to see the yolk or fetal pole if no heartbeat ?

I havent had one myself but my friend recently had one and could see the yolk if theu dont see a heart beat they will re arrange the scan for few weeks as heartbeat normally doesnt show untill after 6 weeks good luck :) xx

I'm quite nervous for tomorrow now! I've been so ill and part of me worries if I'm not right the pregnancy could be effected. Just a bad cold but with violent sneezing and coughing has really put strain on my tummy (likely being completely silly but oh these pregnancy worries!)

Why are you being scanned so early (4+1 and then 4+3)?
I don't the cold/coughing will have any impact - the baby is tiny tiny and very well protected.

I'm a higher risk due to health reasons and they originally thought it was ectopic as I had one sided pain and pink discharge

It was just a black dot, a bit like a full stop, a week later it was like a fried egg and six weeks after that a skinned rabbit.

He's 6 now and stunningly beautiful, I'm a bit biased though!

It was just a black dot at 4+1 then a black smudge at 4+3.. Guess I'll not, expect to see a vast difference tomorrow at 5+1

I don't think you'll see a huge difference between 4 and 5 weeks. It's still very early. However by 7-8 weeks you should see a jellybean with a heartbeat. However the sonograoger should be able to recognise the progress between scans. Hope all goes well for you.

I had several in the early weeks. The first was around 4 weeks and was just a blob, next was a little over 5 weeks (5+3 I think) and there was a sack. Next at 7 weeks when I saw the heartbeat.

Good luck tomorrow. I also have an early scan (I am around 7 weeks) and am very very nervous.

Please try not to worry, scans are amazing but we are really pushing the limits with such early dates.

The scan showed a good sized embryo with a strong heartbeat... so relieved.

Like my previous pregnancy there was a small bleed site so that explains where the spotting has come from.

How did yours go?

Well, they could see the sac and yolk on a abdominal scan (had to be internal before) so that's a improvement. The yolk has developed from last week. I'm measuring about 5 and a half weeks (I only think I'm 5+1) and unless the pain gets worse I'm not due back until 12 weeks.

12weeks... Miles away lol

Still uncertain in myself but happy all is as it should be.

Great news. That wait till 12 weeks can seem like forever. If you are worried and can afford it, you could always book a private scan? About 8 weeks would be a good time. Seeing the heartbeat is very reassuring.

Think I might go private about 8/9 weeks just to check in and see the heartbeat
