I am getting so fat, I have nearly put on a stone at 18 weeks!!! What have/had you put on at 20 weeks?

At least a stone I reckon - put on 2.5 in total but most of it has gone (DS is 5 months). Don't worry about it

Dophus · 07/03/2007 08:15

About the same!

I am now 23 weeks and have put on 18lb's

Still... better than last time ... I had put on stone and a hlaf by 20 weeks .

How heavy were you to start with (I was 10.5 stone)?

Dophus · 07/03/2007 08:17

I should add I put on 3.5 stone with DS1

Still I lost all but half a stone within 6 months. I don't want to put on too much this time as I am getting married 6 months following birth. I'm not getting too hung up on it though becasue with a little effort and bf it does come off (but don't be fooled that bf alone will do it!)

Clare123 · 07/03/2007 08:33

I was 9.7 stone.....I just feel HUGGGGGEEE!!!

Swizzler · 07/03/2007 08:35

You're NOT huge, you're pregnant and prob look fab now you have a proper bump

Clare123 · 07/03/2007 08:51

Thank you. I am going to put my scales away as I weigh myself all the time and get really fed up and then eat cake! Obviously they are not helping!!

Don't weigh yourself - just leave it until the end. There is nothing you can do and as long as you are not eating masses and masses more than normal it will all go fairly quickly.

I say this because I made the mistake of weighing myself the other day (29 weeks). Never again.

Trimum2 · 07/03/2007 13:17

I had put on a stone at 20 weeks. I nearly died from the shock. I was 8.5st to start with. Have not been able to weigh myself since. And probably won't again... too depressing.

nh101 · 07/03/2007 16:18

My books say put on 3-4lbs in first 12 weeks then a pound a week until 28 (i think it is 28). So 12-14lbs after 18 weeks sounds like just the right amount!

I weigh myself once a week - putting weight on too quickly can cause stretchmarks! (And other probs)

Clare123 · 07/03/2007 17:53

thanks so much for replying,I am feeling better about all this weight. I just hope this bony baby won't be too huge!

My DS was only 3.3 kg - he's now huge, so did all of his growing after the birth (phew!)

Violette · 07/03/2007 22:28

These messages have cheered me up! I'm 23.5 weeks and have put on approx 16 pounds...I have been wondering whether this was too much, as my bump is rather prominent too... I'm only 5ft2 and have been feeling a tad swamped! But I am also trusting that it's correct and healthy for the baby...not going to weigh myself again, causes too much unneccessary anxiety!

nh101 · 08/03/2007 12:33

Hi Violete. 16lbs sounds about right. Remember, both tall and short women need to gain the same amount of weight so it will look/feel like more on someone who is 5ft2 whereas someone 5ft10 could put on 3st without hardly noticing!

conkertree · 08/03/2007 13:36

phew thanks for this thread from me too - weighed myself for the first time for ages this week - 19 weeks and have put on 12 or so pounds. Had read somewhere its about 2.5 - 3 stone for the whole pregnancy but that not so much in the first trimester so was panicking slighlty but this has made me feel much better.

Am eating so much more than normal, but also am hungry more often than normal, so dont see the point in not eating if i am genuienly hungry.

Tutter · 08/03/2007 13:38

i have gained 1st 2lbs

a bit too much but not dreadful

Tutter · 08/03/2007 13:38

oh yes, i'm 20+4

nh101 · 08/03/2007 14:59

Conkertree - if you are hungry, definitely eat!!!

mum2george · 08/03/2007 15:30

Hi, not sure what I have put on, am 19+1. Know that I weigh more than I ever have though....

Am enjoying all the eating and seriously couldn't care less about the weight gain.

Last time I was pregnant, I was so ill that I could hardly eat, never mind get fat so am really going for it this time.

After having my ds I bf him and was back in my normal jeans in no time at all, I think he just sucked all the fat right out of me!

Don't worry and enjoy it would be my advice.
