When did you start on the Raspberry Leaf Tea? I purchased some yesterday and realised it said to ask a midwife befor drinking it. Do I need to actually do that? I've had a very normal pregnancy so far. I'm 35 + 3 btw
PS. I'm not doing it to bring on labour I just read it helped muscles work better during labour. Thank you.

I started drinking it at 36/37 weeks, when I got to 38 weeks I also started taking evening primrose oil. I didn't go into labour until I was 40+4, but the labour was only 4 hours 27 minutes, and the midwife commented that although my contractions were short, they were powerful and were doing what needed to be done xx

Think I started at 32 weeks, actually. 39 weeks today and no sign of baby, so don't expect it to bring on labour!

SussexTeacher · 24/03/2017 16:46

I'm 40+1 and it's done nothing!

dementedpixie · 24/03/2017 16:50

It's supposed to help in labour not beforehand

2sCompany · 24/03/2017 17:01

It's supposed to strengthen your uterus, not bring on labour. If that were the case, you shouldn't be drinking it before full term! I believe it's recommended a cup a day from 33 weeks, then gradually increase.

mistermagpie · 24/03/2017 17:10

I've been drinking it since about 34 weeks. No idea if it works but I drank it last time and DS was born at 38 weeks and had a very fast birth, neither of which were especially good things at the time! I'm just doing it again because I'm a bit superstitious I think,

kissmewherethesundontshine · 24/03/2017 18:04

I drank it with my first, from about 32 weeks one cup a day then increased to 2 cups at 37 weeks. He arrived at 39+3 after a quick 4 hour labour. I'm now 37 weeks and doing the same again.

I started at 37 weeks whatever it said on the box , and had a 2 hour labour at 40 weeks. Not sure I'd take it again just in case that had anything to do with the speedy labour!

jinglebellmel · 24/03/2017 19:24

I started at 35 weeks and gave birth very quickly at 36 weeks - I doubt it had much to do with it though sadly! I think there is some chance of it bringing on labour though as your not recommended to drink it if you've had a previous pre-term labour or before a certain number of weeks.

I drank three a day from 35 weeks and had a 4 hour labour, 25 mins pushing and was a week earlier. Plan to do the same again x
