Scan at 6 weeks.....

Just had a scan today and am 6 weeks exactly - I was measuring 11mm and there was a yolk but no fetal pole...i'm going back in a week but does anyone else have stories of scans at 6 weeks...I thought there would be a fetal pole. He wouldn't commit either way to whether good or not but said measuring about right (shouldn't have googled it as it says average for 6 weeks is 16mm) argh!

I can't help just now but I've got a scan this weekend and I'll be 6+4. The EPU were fairly confident they should be able to see a heartbeat as I offered to wait until 7 weeks. Although looking online I don't think it's clear cut and that sometimes you have to wait until 7 weeks. Won't it depend on when you ovulate/implantation happened?
Try to stay positive

I'm not sure but please let me tell you what I wish someone had told me, having come through a very difficult touch and go pregnancy. Google is not your friend. Dr Google knows all about worse case scenarios and knows very little about you and your baby. Googling the s**t out of every utterance the doctor/sonographer's mouth will not affect the outcome but it will affect your sanity Flowers

I had a scan at 6 weeks and saw the same and my heart sank. However my dates were about 4/5 days out and at that time it makes all the difference. Went back 2 weeks later and there was baby and heartbeat. I was put a week ahead at my 12 weeks scan and am now nearly 17 weeks. Try not to worry, it's really early. I've had a MMC so I know how you feel though! Xx

I had a scan when I was 6+1 by my dates. They dated me as 5+4. They didn't seem overly concerned but obviously I was. When I went back 2 weeks later all was fine and I've gone back to my original dates (28 day cycle and I used opk so I was quite certain about the dates). At that point everything is so small that it's very hard to get an accurate measurement.

Those measurements sound on the high side to me for 6 weeks. My twins were picked up at 6 weeks but both were measuring under 4mm and I was told there was no way they were 6 weeks, but it turns out at that stage those measurements don't always mean a lot because by 12 weeks they had caught up to the measurements that they should have been so my due date remained as I had worked out based on my LMP.
