Early Scan

Im so worried about things, esp ectopic pregnancy, that im considering a early scan. Im only four weeks so nothing will show atm. I dont think i wait another 4 as commonly suggested. Would there be much to see at 6+3 ish? Anything to rule out ectopic!

I had a scan at 4w due to bleeding and positive hpt. They could see the sack locationeasily. It was a tv scan. That also checked cervix to see any outward signs of miscarriage.

What has your GP said?

OnNaturesCourse · 22/03/2017 12:39

Im going to EPU this afternoon for bloods

Ok, that's good news. It will more than likely put your mind at rest. Good luck!

OnNaturesCourse · 22/03/2017 12:48

Think the pink discharge concerned then, and the fact my last period was really light.

There's a sac, and my lining is thick. Cyst on my ovary. Bloods to be redone on Friday

That all sounds very positive. Smile

OnNaturesCourse · 22/03/2017 16:08

Fingers crossed. My HCG was 854 @4wks+1 ... She says that's "in range"?

OP posts:
ButtMuncher · 22/03/2017 16:17

That's a good range I believe - you can't be very far and to put it in perspective many digital tests won't recognise a pregnancy before around weeks 3-4 and the sensitivity of the test is HG 50/miul. So that reading is fantastic. It doubles and trebles as time goes on so looks positive.

Good work by EPU - for a no/low risk pregnancy they often don't see you and tell you to come back if it continues. I know that was the response I got until 6w when they could see visually if things were in the right place as it were.

Thanks. The nurse was lovely and really concerned about my pain. I got a external scan then internal.

OP posts:
NaturWilde · 22/03/2017 16:41

That's great news!

OnNaturesCourse · 22/03/2017 16:46

Thank you ladies, you've all been so kind with me and my ridiculous worries.

Would you all agree 854 is OK for 4+1? I've read it should be between 18-420ish but obviously all pregnancies are different xx

beingsunny · 23/03/2017 05:10

I have a breakdown in my notes which says 4-5 weeks range is 100-5000

ruthieruthuk · 23/03/2017 18:18

Ive got my next scan on Monday, my other one was quite painful so hoping i don't have a repeat performance, he was looking for my ovaries and twisting it to the side, i should be about 6wks at my next scan so hope they see something as last time they could only see the sack

ruthieruthuk · 23/03/2017 18:19

Ive not had my HCG levels done, they jumped straight to scanning, is this normal?

ruthieruthuk · 23/03/2017 18:25

I had a cyst on my ovary too at my last scan, they weren't concerned though, i think its normal in early pregnancy

OnNaturesCourse · 23/03/2017 19:12

Ruthie... They done my levels because of my pain. I go back to get them checked again tomorrow, I'm super nervous

OP posts:
ruthieruthuk · 23/03/2017 21:26

Ok good luck, fingers crossed everything will be ok for u xx

OnNaturesCourse · 23/03/2017 21:46

Thank you. I don't have a good feeling about it

OP posts:
beingsunny · 24/03/2017 05:18

My doctor told me to be concerned if the pain was so strong painkillers didn't touch it.
Try not to worry

FindingNormal · 24/03/2017 06:50

With my daughter I had bleeding between 5-9 weeks and was scanned at 5 due to previous miscarriage. They couldn't see much and said it was a pregnancy of unknown location which freaked me out a bit. In the end all was fine but just be aware early scans are rally hit and miss as to what you can see

OnNaturesCourse · 24/03/2017 08:47

Pain killers don't touch it, that was the problem. But now the pains gone and a PG test last night had a fainter line. Im never gonna be able to concentrate in work this morning, my tests at 2 x

OP posts:
ButtMuncher · 24/03/2017 14:44

Oh love. How did it go? Flowers

OnNaturesCourse · 24/03/2017 17:58

Bloods are 2000+ from 854 on Wednesday
Sac hasn't grown as much as expected and there is no sign of a "reaction"(whatever that is)
Back for another scan on Wednesday.

Mind at rest a little but not much.

OP posts:
Polly99 · 24/03/2017 20:33

HCG is more than doubling in 48 hours which is as good as it gets.
OP, why are you so worried?

No one can promise you things will be fine, and repeat scans and bloods won't make it so.

There doesn't appear to be any indication of a problem, so why not find a way to distract yourself for the next 8 weeks?

OnNaturesCourse · 24/03/2017 21:25

I'm a natural worrier, and having previously thought I'd struggle to conceive I'm being extra careful.

Thankful the hospital have been great and will continue to monitor me closely. Until they can see more I'll be nervous, as are they.. The midwife says her concern will remain until I'm further along due to my health.. And that of my family history. On top if it, it's my first pregnancy.

Thankfully I have this forum for support.
