One til due date- tiny bump. Anyone else?

I'm starting to to get worried about the amount of people who gasp at the size of my bump when they see me. They say things like they were bigger than me when they were only 12 weeks and I'm 39!!
The scans or measurements have never shown the baby to be small and the midwife hasn't mentioned it.
But literally everyone seems flabbergasted at the bump size.

Anyone else have a tiny bump and it be normal?

If you're generally quite fit/well-toned I think it could be normal for you to have a compact bump. Is this the case?

I was tiny with my first. You would never have guessed I was pregnant sometimes but I was never measuring small at midwife appointments and my dd was born 2 days late weighing 6lb. I'm currently 7 months pregnant with my 2nd and although im still small for 33 weeks I feel absolutely huge!!!

Are you quite tall or long in the torso? I've got tall friends who had the tiniest bumps even at term. Otoh, I am very short and looked like I was having triplets. I know which I'd prefer tbh!

I was huge at first but now at 33 weeks im tiny compared to my sister at 16 weeks and a lot of people dont believe i only have 6 and 1/2 weeks left haha. I even have severe polyhydramnios (extra fluid) and my baby is measuring full term and estimated 7 lb already..but apparently im still tiny. I have a MASSIVE baby and almost a liter of extra fluid and if people still say im tiny when i know theres nothing wrong, i dont think you have anything to worry about! On the other hand my sister in law measured 38 weeks at 29 weeks, had normal fluids etc and she gave birth to a 5 pounder a month ago, 3 weeks early. I remember reading in a book my midwife gave me that no one other than your midwife/consultant should tell you you are too small, you said she hasnt and scans were okay so dont worry:) x

Ignore others' comments unless you are concerned yourself. Be guided by your midwife and doctor.

I agree with Greedy if you're long in the torso your bump will appear smaller. I am & didn't really look pregnant until I was in the 3rd tri with my 3rd! I'm currently 18 weeks with my 5th & although I have a bump it's not all that noticeable.

I am 5"8 and quite long torso yes. Do you think the baby is tightly packed in?
That would explain the horrible indigestion :)

Friend was like this with each pregnancy.

I , on the other hand, always had well meaning strangers saying " not long now then " whilst staring meaningfully at my bump anytime from about 28 weeks!

My first I was huge everywhere even my nose got bigger he was 7lbs 3oz born at 41+1 with my second I was small and neat looked about 6 months at full term no weight gain at all and he was 7lbs 1oz at 39+4. So many people said maybe my baby would be small and blamed my fitness routine it was great to be able to tell them I had a perfectly average size baby.

I had a small, compact bump with DS1. The bump didn't get any bigger from 28 weeks (nor did I put on any weight).

He was born totally fine at 38 weeks.

I think it was my strong stomach muscles which held the bump in (and I had a flat stomach again one week after giving birth). Unfortunately they'd totally upped and left me by DS2, so bump was a LOT bigger (and it took me longer to lose the stomach).

If no concerns have been raised about baby's growth then I wouldn't be concerned at all. I'm sick of people feeling the need to comment on my size now, 28 weeks and absolutely huge. I know I am huge and don't need reminding, plus baby is very small so that is a concern too 😕

I am a short arse but do a lot of Pilates and I think buried under the tub is a decent set of abs. My third was a really small bump, and as he got bigger all I got was more short of breath with worse reflux, the bump was still really neat. Many scans and he was a nice normal size, plenty of fluid etc. He was 8lb at 39+4 when he arrived... not sure where he was hiding, but as long as grown is fine don't fret about bump size.

I have had 4 different sized bumps and people have always seen fit to comment one way or another. Different people have even said the same bump is "tiny" or "massive". My response has always just been that the mw says I'm measuring bang on for dates. I think the one where I did look "tiny" was just because I didn't put much weight on elsewhere that time. Fwiw baby was perfectly good sized currently expecting dc5 and await all the usual random observations! Not long til you get to meet your lovely little baby now!

I think you might be right about baby being tightly packed. Even at the end with dc 3 & 4 who I did have bumps with I was by no means huge. I put it down to combination of long torso, good abdominal muscles well I choose to beleive the drs & midwives when they say I have them, small babies & staying active during my pregnancies. Honestly though if your midwife isn't concerned ignore those that are commenting, once baby arrives they'll move on to what you should & shouldn't be doing .

Was also small with my first, and had a 8lb 8oz beast. I'll never forget the midwife's face...

I was small. I was sent for a scan when I was 37 weeks, as I only measured 30 weeks gestation.
Everything was fine, and my baby was born 6lb 7oz.
