Hey All

We had a growth scan today as our midwife thought the bubba was measuring small.

He is sitting in the 29th centile and his head is measuring fine at 36weeks but I noticed that his legs were measuring 33 weeks.

We had a scare for downs early in the pregnancy and had the NIPS test which came back fine but I can't help but worry.

Has anyone else had this??

Thanks All

For reasons other than growth I have had about seven or eight scans through this pregnancy (currently 35 weeks) with the last one on Thursday just gone.

I have had from stomach measuring big to everything bang on and recently femur measuring small. It is a black art and not hugely accurate. If you watch how it is done it is very subjective and a click of the mouse to the left or right can make a big difference.

If your medical team are not worried then I would advise not to be either. These things even themselves out and tend to work out just fine.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

Hi every one I just had my 20
Week scan yesterday and everything apart from
The left femur is looking shorter than the right. On my notes I’m coming up as below 5% centile I’m so scared if it’s something serious I’ve had my Down syndrome tests at 12 weeks and I’m
Classed as low risk.. I have to see a consultant on Thursday and im petrified.. has anyone else had less than 5% centile and had a problem free
Birth? Xx

Hi, this is completely different but I'll tell you my story. Not to scare anyone but to tell you it can be nothing.

With my second at the 20 week scan we had a scare. They couldn't see the Chambers in heart properly and he had a short femur and fluid in the nuchal fold ( all indicators of downs syndrome). We were referred to have a detailed scan where they offered me tests etc. Turns out he had a hole in his heart. We refused amniocentesis but was told we were 1 in 7 chance. Because of this we had to be monitored closely and had a total of 21 scans. He is 5 now, the hole in his heart closed before he was 3. He doesn't have downs syndrome but he is small for his age.

I wouldn't worry too much unless there is concern to worry

Hi! I posted the exact same thing last year about my baby. Don't worry! She is totally normal and she is now 80th percentile in height.

Overall fetal weight is still well within normal range which is fab news. Anything from 3rd centile up is the ‘normal range’, maybe baby has a longer body and slightly shorter legs, could just be proportions? More than likely the scan reading is inaccurate though xx
