Hypnobirthing - have you done it/are considering it?

Just wanted to see if anyone has gone for this? I have my hypnobirthing course booked in April and am looking forward to it!

Ive contacted a lady who runs a course and waiting for her to hopefully recruit some more people. I've also bought the Katherine graves book off Amazon and have only read the first few chapters but it all makes a lot of sense. I'm about to go and get in the bath and listen to the CD

I go on a course this coming weekend and next. Second baby, bit traumatising first time around. I'm looking forward to it but I'm hoping I can be open minded enough. Are you on the Facebook group? I just can't get on board with saying 'surges' rather than contractions. And all the printed 'affirmations' and repeating them to myself. I just want to have the ability to keep my sanity and try not to lose the plot!!

I used the Maggie Howell book and CD and also pregnancy yoga for DD1. I found them really helpful for the majority of the labour, I could just go away to the little place in my head and focus on my breathing during the contractions, which made them much easier to bear - no screaming from me! Did the whole thing on gas and air. It all got a bit chaotic at the end though and all my techniques went out the window, and yes, it did still bloody well hurt. But it was still really helpful and I'll be using it again for DC2 hopefully (currently 7 weeks).

Am planning to as well. The courses look to expensive but I'll be reading up on it. Interested to hear suggestions from others too

I also used them Maggie Howell book and CD and found it useful (if also a bit irritating!). For both my labours I was fully dilated when the midwife arrived (home births) and so didn't need any pain relief for the contractions.

I'd completely recommend it; just listened to CD in last few weeks - was also good opportunity to have some chill-out time!

Well I've done day one of my two day course. It was very good, my husband fell asleep twice lol! During the relaxation exercises I must add and not due to sheer boredom. Some of the techniques didn't work for me at all which I felt quite irritated by, but others worked. I need to get practicing! Although I have to say a side effect is it now all feels very real and I got a bit scared last night!
