Anyone get pregnant at 41 onwards with their first child?

Hi, just asking as I've noticed a trend that the ladies who manage to get pregnant in their 40s usually already have a child/ children.
If you did get pregnant, how long did it take?
I have been trying to conceive for years, but only recently discovered the cause of my infertility was (silent) endometriosis. Ovaries covered in adhesions etc. Gyne said it would have been almost impossible to get pregnant. It has now been removed, so I'm back at the starting blocks. But at 42 I can't help but feel it's now too late.

Me. 42 with my first (and last). I'll be 43 by the time he makes an appearance.

Yep, 40 with first, which ended in mmc, then 2 months later, around my 41st birthday with this pregnancy and due in 4 weeks.
We were lucky and it only took us 2 months to conceive each time.
We're planning on another. Absolutely not too late.

One MMC at 40, first month trying after years on pill then 8 cycles to get pregnant again aged just over 41. Had every test done, ready to do IVF and got pregnant the month we were due to start. One of the scan tests looked at number of follicles almost to assess biological age and there were loads there for them to go at, more than expected for my age. Might have been this reassurance that made it work that month!

I'll be very nearly 41, all things being well, when my first baby arrives later this year.

My cousin is expecting her 1st in late spring at 43, it's her OHs first too, he's 45/46 I think . From what she's told me they'd only been trying for about 4 months. I'm the opposite end of the scale, 1st at 21 now expecting my 5th & final at 28. With my 1st the only person I really got on with at baby group was the ftm in her in her 40's we were both kind of pushed out by the mid 20's-30's mums & found we had similar interests. Good luck!

I plan on having my first when I hit 40 (38 now) so I will watch this thread with interest. Although I have chosen to leave it later I have had the same thoughts as you

My friend got pregnant after 4 months at 42. She lost that one, but 3 months later was pg again and their baby is now 1.

A secretary at work had her first at 44.

It's perfectly possible so good luck!

I hope that plan works out for you, but why on earth would you risk waiting another two years to conceive? Speaking as someone who has conceived aged 39, 40, and twice at 42, I know it can be done. But, to date, only one of those pregnancies has ended in a live birth. Declining egg quality is a very real problem as you get older.

Yes but taking 5 private ivf to get here and as bubs is born 11yrs ttc

Secretariat agree with greedyduck here. Appreciate there may be valid reasons why you are choosing to wait. But i started trying to conceive at 38 as well (met my husband late). If it’s something you really want, then if possible i would get cracking. Learn from my experience! Just in case of any fertility issues, best to have a bit of time to investigate/ try resolve.
And don’t be reassured by those fertility assessments. I had one at Create at 37, was told i had loads of follicles and was superb for age. But at this age things can change very fast. And those tests can't tell you about egg quality, sperm quality, tube blockages, fibroids, endometriosis etc. Crack on if you can x

Just to add - I had to see a gynae a couple of years ago. He was telling me that he gets women of 38 and 39 telling him that they're not sure about their partners and they might wait a bit - his exact words were: "speaking as a gynaecologist I am on my knees begging them not to wait."

Obv not everyone is in a relationship position to try, but if you are and it's something you want, then I would agree with not waiting.

Yep I'm 44 and 6 weeks pregnant! Bit of a shock as I have never known if I could fall pregnant as I've never tried! Obviously it's very early days and at my age I'm high risk but it can happen!!
