Being induced at 37+1

I have GD and baby had been measuring really big. I've had 3 growth scans and at my last one on Monday there (36weeks) they said they're going to bring me in to be induced next tuesday as baby is measuring over 8lb!
Consultant said they'll try to induce me, but the hormones to ripen my cervix may not work on first attempt with me being so early, and if that's the case they'll send me home and bring me in a few days later to try again.
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm really hoping it works first time!

I was induced at 37 weeks due to obstetric cholestasis. I had two lots of gel over two days which brought on some mild contractions and by the end of the second day I was 3cm dilated. The next day they broke my waters and put me on the drip.
