When is blood taken for combined test?

Sorry if this is a dim question but i have my 12 week scan in 12 days and i have been reading up about the combined test. I get that they measure the fluid behind the babys neck but when do they take the blood? I am not due to see the midwife again until 16 weeks.

Have you had any bloods done at all?

I had mine taken after the scan. I just had to go from the ultrasound dept to another dept (can't remember it's name) staffed by midwives. Different hosps will no doubt do it differently but it should be done in conjunction with your scan.

After the scan, I went back into the waiting room and a midwife called me a few minutes later to take bloods.

you will have your scan then bloods and a chat with the hospital midwife. :)

you will continue to have input from your community midwife in between

Oh ok that makes sense. Didnt mention anything on letter or nhs pamphlet so i was a little confused. Thats great, be nice to have OH with me and midwife this time. Thanks all xx

Had mine taken at the hospital before my scan. They couldn't use it though as baby wouldn't play ball with the neck measurements. So at my next midwife appointment had the quad test done...

I just had the blood taking form the midwife had given me at 8 weeks signed off by the hospital at my 12 week scan and then was told to go to blood taking in the hospital but could be done when I wanted to do it, I just did it same day as the scan though.
