Can I have sex after a sweep?

I'm 40+5 today (first baby), had a sweep this morning at 9.30. Came home and done some housework including cleaning the bathroom and hoovering through. Just had some lunch, will have a quick nap then I'll be going for a walk around the block in the hope to get things moving. No pains or show yet, just a bit of white discharge earlier.

Just wondering, can I have sex after a sweep? Ive had no soreness or bleeding at all after the sweep, just curious as I forgot to ask midwife.

I was told by my midwife to do it lol. I was fed up and that was my 3rd sweep. It is fine. Good luck!

I did after my 2nd sweep, 15 mins later my waters broke and contractions started! Good luck!

Yes, definitely. Sex, and plenty of nipple stimulation to get the oxytocin flowing.

Yes, as long as your waters are intact you can have sex! I did after a sweep at 41+2, least sexy sex ever, and it didn't work Sad

5 days overdue with number 2 here. Hasn't worked for me yet but thought I would give it a go anyway. Hope you have more luck!

Sex didn't work for me at all but nipple stimulation did. Unfortunately I think it also stressed baby out as when my waters broke there was thick meconium Confused

Sex may be off the agenda after all...think my waters might have broke half hour ago so currently awaiting the community midwife to come and assess me Grin

Hi yeah midwife conformed waters had gone, gave me another sweep, contractions from 11pm, went to birthing centre at 4am and was 6cm dilated, born in water at 5am. A little boy, 8lb 4oz, absolutely perfect. Was transferred to another hospital a little later in the day and they found he has a chest infection so poor mite is in special care on oxygen and antibiotics for a few days. So in love though :)
