my last baby was born in october so i used all in one baby grows with a vest underneath - i am wondering if a may baby would wear the same or if the no legged/short sleeved ones would be better.

has anyone had a summer baby and be able to offer advice on clothing .....

Incy - this one is due may, I have bought the sleepsuits & vests as it is still pretty cool in the evenings - and got some rompers if if warms up, and if it gets really warm it will probably just sleep in a vest

I've taken the same approach as Lupins; May can be a changeable month so I've bought both vests and sleepsuits. During very warm days, a vest or romper suit would be fine (especially if you are swaddling the baby) and on cooler days and at nights, babygros/sleepsuits can be worn on top of the vest.

dd was born in August, In France, hot hot hot, but she still needed a vest. Short sleeve normal vest. The sleeveless ones were no good, they fell off the shoulder. I am having a May baby too and will use the same shortsleeved ones. It's better to increase and de-crease the layers as you need to. Newborn babies still loose alot of heat and I found that dd back and tummy did not stay warm enough with just a sleepsuit. I LOVE romper suits though for the day, have to agree!

Hi guys, I thought I knew a bit about clothing but I'm not following much of this [blush}

My first is also due this May and haven't got any clothes yet. What is a sleep suit (is that the sleeper bag with the zip thing) and the romper suit? Is that a jumpsuit all in 1 thingy?

Another Due In May, bought nothing, you're all speaking double dutch...

A bodysuit is like knickers and vest all in one with poppers that do up at the bottom; they can be sleevless, short-sleeved or long-sleeved.

A sleepsuit or babygro is an all in one outfit, usually with long sleeves.

Not sure what a romper suit it tbh!!

I had an April baby and the weather was all over the place. But a bodysuit and a sleepsuit was fine, plus a hat and a cardi (for outdoors) when it was a bit chilly.

I had my ds in August so I bought loads of shorts and t shirts and family bought us alot too.
Not one bit of it got worn. All he wore was sleepsuits. No vest underneath, just sleepsuits.

I'd get them and wait till your starting to get out and about to buy things. You'll be able to judge the weather better then.

Sorry should have said a short-sleeved body suit plus sleepsuit.

Oh, and congratulations everyone!

Thanks everyone - I will buy both types then (vests and babygrows). Had an October baby last time so masses of cardis and coats so a bit confused on this one !
