Breech babies - how likely that they will turn as time goes on?

I'm 28 weeks and my baby spends the vast majority of their time in breech position. I know this because all the kicks are in my pelvis or at least below my belly button. My hunch was confirmed on a scan yesterday.

I've had scans at 12, 20, 24 and 28 weeks and baby has been head up on all of these.

Baby's favourite position is with its head resting against my upper bowel which is very uncomfortable, but obviously that's not my main concern!

I'm just wondering if the fact that baby is always head up at this point means that they're likely to still be breech by the 36-week cut off?

I'm not sure exactly but when I last saw my doctor I was 29 weeks. Before he looked at my baby he said he does not worry about the position at this stage. So there is still some chance your baby will change positions!

Im 29 weeks, had scans every 2 weeks until 20 weeks. Baby was head down at 18 weeks, cant remember what he was at 20 weeks and then i had a scan at 27 weeks and he was breech. Although a few days before he was head down. Last night i was in hospital and he was transverse, today at my scan he is breech again with his legs over his head. He's changed position more times than the weather in 11 weeks. At my scan today they said they have up until 37 weeks to make up their minds on where they wanna lie. At a scan before they said he was breech and then when i said about him moving, they said they could re scan in a few hours and he might be in a complete different position. They do somersaults even though they're so big now, its not an issue until ALOT closer to full term dont worry x

They can keep moving a lot. Dd2 was head down and engaged for weeks and at 38 weeks decided to to move to transverse!

Argh McBaby - how frustrating! At least mine is preparing me for it.

Although he/she moves quite a lot in terms of wriggling and kicking, the prime position always remains the same.

I'd be delighted if baby would give my bowel a break though; I'm getting more and more uncomfortable every day of having baby's head nestled against my left hand side.

I've just done some reading and apparently housework is really good for getting baby to change position. My floors certainly wouldn't complain either so maybe it'll work well all round!

Up to around 37 weeks babies will continue to change position. Head down from then on is optimal. At this stage I really wouldn't worry too much.

INeedNewShoes Does this mean if the baby is already head down then we should stop doing house work in case it changes position!

It was frustrating but I had a successful and induction at 38 weeks due to being transverse.

Currently 29 weeks again with a baby that moves constantly from breech, transverse and head down so I figure it will keep me guessing a bit longer!
