So i have been living in baggy clothes of late but next week have an event that calls for me to get into some jeans. Just tried to get mine on and i cant even get them over thighs let alone tummy. Is this normal? I have put on 3lbs since falling preg. Too early to get mat jeans??

I got maternity jeans around this time because I was so so bloated!
I ended up back in normal jeans from week 12-18 but don't regret buying the maternity jeans - so much more comfortable than normal jeans digging in all over the shop!

I'm not sure it's a normal early pregnancy symptom to have such significant swelling in your legs. It might be worth speaking to your midwife to check that this isn't anything to worry about.

another vote for that not being the norm

rollonthesummer · 16/02/2017 21:19

No-I have had 5 pregnancies past this stage and have never struggled to get my jeans on over my thighs. I would say this is not the norm.

ArriettyClock1 · 16/02/2017 21:21

No.

8 weeks? This is not the norm. Any weight gain at this stage is not the norm, imo.

Jellybabie3 · 16/02/2017 21:39

Oh. That's a worry 😟

I was leggings only from 6 weeks for both my pregnancies. My jeans mocked me. I'm a size 8/10 usually but piled it on during the early weeks. I had two normal pregnancies with two healthy babies and didn't gain an unhealthy amount overall but the early bloat was evil. Mat jeans are designed for a biggish bump so will probably be very loose on you. Maybe jeggings?

DirtyDancing · 16/02/2017 22:52

If you have only put on 3lbs then it can't be weight gain. Worth talking to doctor or midwife

Jellybabie3 · 17/02/2017 06:59

I don't usually wear jeggings in public as im paranoid about thighs anyway. Im a size 12 but they look big. Got an almost thigh roll thing going on atm....wish i wasnt so nauseas to get on x-trainer

Jelly - if it really is the case that you can't get a pair of jeans over your thighs that you could a few weeks ago, I really think you ought to seek medical advice. As many of us have said, this is not a normal early pregnancy symptom (bloated stomach yes - swollen legs no).

I'm 28 weeks and still wearing my normal jeans, just with a bump band to adjust them for my stomach.

arbrighton · 17/02/2017 11:17

Yeah at 20 weeks, my normal jeans go on, just don't do up anymore

I'm a 14 and that hasn't changed. Boobs, huge change, bottom and legs, NONE.

Don't just 'get on x trainer', please get checked out.

And remember your body is going to change. Don't pressure yourself to be 'perfect' whatever the hell that is anyway.

If your scales are correct then no, that's really not normal! Sounds like fluid retention, get to your GP.

MumBeth · 17/02/2017 19:36

If you're worried get it checked out. I couldn't get into any of my jeans at 8 weeks though
