First scan booked in before first midwife appointment

I'm currently 7 weeks+3 and after visiting the Dr last week I have had the following correspondence through the post.

A letter confirming my first scan on 16/2 (ie next week when I will be 8+4)
A letter confirming a midwife visit on 9/3

I have a feeling this is the wrong way round as the midwife letter says that important details will need to be discussed at this meeting before my dating scan is booked.

I really don't want to call them if its an error though & have my dating scan cancelled. I would love to have a heartbeat confirmation next week to try and calm my missed miscarriage paranoia!

Has anyone else had things progress in this order?

Sounds like an error to me as they won't be able to measure the nuchal fold that early I don't think.

A very similar thing happened to me. I got scanned- saw heartbeat and then re booked in for a dating scan at 12 weeks.

Admin error. I suppose the moral resource not wasting thing to do would be rebook for 12 weeks, but I wouldnt blame you if you didnt...

Some hospitals scan before booking in now (although I was still scanned at 12 weeks and booked in next day). They said it is so they know all is ok before they book, if that makes sense. Good luck Smile

Thanks for the replies.

Fingers crossed it all goes ok & then I get booked in for a 12 week one too :) If not, I will be willing to pay for a private scan at 12 weeks I think to confirm everything is still progressing well.

I had the same thing happen which resulted in me having another scan after I had met the midwife, so I was happy enough to have two scans because of their error Wink

I'm waiting for my first dating scan next week and then my midwife appointment is on the 23rd, apparently it's just to get the ball rolling as if waited to be referred at my midwife appointment I could almost be 12 weeks by the time I get my first scan and that's usually when everyone has their second so I wouldn't worry. It'll be good for the midwife to know exactly how far along you are too!
