How about husband has just had a baby too, and understands that you'll both be working very hard to keep baby healthy and happy, and realising that he's not the priority for a wee while?

If my DH was so precious he needed a 'picnic on the nursery floor' Hmm I'm not sure I'd be having a baby with him.

Jeez.

We really are living in backlash times aren't we.

It's so infantlising of men.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 05/02/2017 14:59

That's awful. And just so sad.

LordRothermereBlackshirtCunt · 05/02/2017 15:03

I think I've missed something. Are there women out there having babies with actual infants?

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 05/02/2017 15:06

It is insulting to men. My BIL is perfectly capable of looking after the kids, while my sister was working. He's a carer for their son.

SolomanDaisy · 05/02/2017 15:16

A picnic on the floor while the baby sleeps? Have a bloody nap woman.

Lunalovepud · 05/02/2017 15:35

Christ.

Was this written in the 50s and just types up for internet mockery now?

Poor hubs - no shagging for 6 whole weeks and feeling a bit neglected... Selfish wife for not giving him a quick handjob and compliment in between trying to establish BFing / feeding, healing your sore fanny / sore abdomen, trying not to become delirious or hallucinate from lack of sleep, immediately feeling pressure to be a size 8 despite having just ejected a human being from your person, trying not to murder everyone who has an opinion on how you are doing and trying to find time to brush your hair and put on clean pants.

Who the hell writes this stuff?!!

Lunalovepud · 05/02/2017 15:40

Plus, articles like this do men a great disservice.

I am PG with DC 2 and DH is a fucking saint. I might give him that article to read when he gets back from the park with DC1 - he'll laugh his head off.

dogsdieinhotcars · 05/02/2017 15:46

How gross is that article?!? What planet is she on? Is it 2 for the price if 1? Get a baby get, get a baby hubby free?!

dogsdieinhotcars · 05/02/2017 15:47

Should have read that back before posting !Hmm

NeverEverAnythingEver · 05/02/2017 16:52

"...they should have chosen the father of thier children more carefully."

I think sometimes these things only come out after you have children. Sad

MomentOfWonder · 05/02/2017 17:04

I too made the error of reading the article on cosleeping. There's something about the oddly joyless command to 'Get Creative!' that makes me want to curl into a ball and weep.

Eminybob · 05/02/2017 17:08

True, but what pisses me off most is just the acceptance that this is the way it is. And "how lucky" women are who have husbands who aren't like it. It's fucking depressing Sad

NeverEverAnythingEver · 05/02/2017 18:48

Eminybob I agree.

But I also think it's really hard to turn things round when you are trapped into all this when you are vulnerable. What would be more useful would be some help to turn things round, rather than "this is the way things are and this is how you can further entrap yourself" like this article. Angry

Eminybob · 05/02/2017 19:24

Yup Sad

JigglyTuff · 05/02/2017 19:57

She's using way too many exclamation marks to be happy. She's gritting her teeth, hoping that if she's perfect, everything else will be too. Poor woman

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 05/02/2017 20:51

Cheers Bertie Wink

KatharinaRosalie · 05/02/2017 21:08

Surely it's not legal to marry 3-year olds? Give him praise and what, a star for his reward chart, for putting the nappy on backwards?

HollyMay84 · 05/02/2017 22:36

Is that woman high?!?! Hmm picnics? "Letting him pick an outfit"

Oh look Jeffrey you've put the nappy on back to front let's laugh it off as a happy memory!!! ... Err NO sort it out, stop being an idiot, get that nappy on his arse. Mummy's going for a lay down Grin

Are there seriously still people like this in the world? Confused

BertieBotts · 05/02/2017 23:01

In what deluded world is a backwards nappy a happy memory anyway?

I probably made some stupid nappy errors when DS was newborn but I can't remember now because he's 8 and a thousand more interesting things have happened since then Confused

SmellySphinx · 05/02/2017 23:37

Fuck me what a load of old drivel.

10Betty10 · 06/02/2017 01:31

I just did a little vom in my mouth.

Ps. The word 'mommying' makes me want to hit things.

UnbornMortificado · 06/02/2017 02:31

Envy< not envy.

If I treat DH like like he'd either suspect an affair or a breakdown.

seashores123 · 06/02/2017 02:33

This reminds me of the time woman's hour on radio 4 said that men would need "extra support" during their wife's menopause

seashores123 · 06/02/2017 02:39

Also the co sleeping and sex article;

WD-40 will become your best friend for squeaky doors that are sure to wake up the tiny terrorist that is looking to hijack your moment.

WTAF

raviolidreaming · 06/02/2017 05:47

Sneaking out to the bloody car?! Planning on making out over dinner in front of your children? MISSING YOUR FAVOURITE TV PROGRAMME? The co-sleeping article is indeed also horrific!
