Eggs make me feel sick!

I'm eight weeks pregnant 😁 and this week every time I see or think about cooked eggs I gag. Omelettes 🤢 scrambled eggs 🤢🤢 egg fried rice 🤢🤢🤢

I love eggs and I'm a vegetarian so a lot of my meals involve eggs.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, does it eventually go away?

I had a massive aversion to eggs during early pregnancy. It was actually one of the first things I went off. And I love eggs normally. Can't quite remember when but I did eventually get to a point where I could eat them but only fried or poached. It's only in recent weeks I can tolerate them scrambled or in an omelette. I'm 37+3 now.

Hopefully it'll get better for you Smile

Oh and congrats on your pregnancy Flowers When are you due?

Lauraw1989 · 04/02/2017 13:14

Thank you Smile Not sure yet, I have an appointment with the Midwife on Thursday I'm hoping she will be able to give me an estimate date. I can't wait Grin I'm guessing late September/early October?

I put my dates into an online calculator to get an estimate. Only used it as a guess as I hadon't slightly longer cycles but scans put me within a day or two so was fairly accurate.

It's so exciting Grin is it your first?

Lauraw1989 · 04/02/2017 13:43

Yeah it's my first Grin how about you?

Just entered my dates into an online calculator and it's right by my DP's Birthday (mid September) he will love that ... NOT!

I also went off egg, which was highly irritating as I usually eat omelette a fair bit. I'm 27 weeks now and I started eating omelette again last week without it making me ill. Hopefully it won't last too long for you!

I felt sick at the thought of eggs in my first pregnancy. My love for them never came back sadly, but I could tolerate them after I gave birth. Now pregnant again and physically sick at the thought of them. I really shouldn't have opened this thread...

I'm 9 weeks and I've just gone off eggs. I tried to eat poached eggs this morning, and had to throw them in the bin as I couldn't stand the smell. I'm a vegetarian too, so I sympathise. Hoping it doesn't last long, as eggs are a staple for me.

Lauraw1989 · 04/02/2017 17:35

Expatwithoneontheway do you take any extra supplements because your a vegetarian?

My doctor told me as long as you eat lots of protein, fruit and veg you have nothing to worry about.

I've started to take an iron supplement (just in case). I'm a lifelong vegetarian so I'm usually okay with food choices. But thinking I might have to up my tofu and beans to make up for the egg aversion.

jcne · 04/02/2017 22:30

I threw eggs up (seasickness not morning sickness!) when I was about 10 weeks and couldn't eat them for weeks after Sad 28 weeks now and no problem 👍🏼

MabelTheCow · 04/02/2017 23:11

Most of the food (basically anything with a strong flavour) I went off has come back at 21 weeks.

Donotpress · 04/02/2017 23:13

I went off them because I kept thinking about my own eggs and the yolk sac I'd seen at my very early scan. Have made myself feel funny rethinking it actually!

Lauraw1989 · 04/02/2017 23:23

Just the word egg makes me want to heave 🤢 My DP said "I guess I won't be getting you an Easter egg this year" I replied "No, no, no you can get me one of those Lindt bunnies instead" Grin

Imagine if chocolate made you feel sick during pregnancy ... Shock

MabelTheCow · 05/02/2017 15:21

yep ... that's me. Chocolate has made me want to heave since week 5 even just looking at it. Can pretty much cope with little bits of dark chocolate in things like cereal bars now but it was no fun for ages.
