Anyone done NIPT test for Downs?

Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience with having a NIPT or private testing for Downs? If so does anyone have any recommendations re companies used/speed and quality of the results?

Depends where you are in the country, where the nearest clinic is to you, and which tests they offer.

I had NIPT twice, and neither clinic recommended the Harmony test, which is the one we are all most familiar with. This is because it has a higher redraw rate that many of the newer tests, i.e. there is a greater probability that the first test will not be able to give a clear result, and will require further bloods to be taken, which takes more time.

The second time, I went to the Birth Company on Harley Street, who recommended the SAFE test. Both of which gave me results in about seven days, and there was little to choose between them. Have a look for a local clinic and then ask them which test they think is right for you.

Morning. I had Harmony done which is pretty much the same thing. It was £440 and worth every penny. I live in the southwest and found the company I used through a colleague. Good luck xx

I've had harmony twice. As far as I know it has the largest evidence base of all of the nipt. The blood is now tested in the U.K. So there is no longer the 2 week wait for results - the second time
My results were back within 5 days

We used thisismy in Manchester and we had results in less than 7 days. We thought they were pretty good and would use them again.

I had the Harmony test at the Fetal Medical Centre in London.

I was offered an optional DNA Reflex test at my NHS nuchal appointment. At £300 it was cheaper than the £400-500 I was quoted by central London clinics. I also had the regular nuchal combined test but the Reflex is more accurate i.e. 1:2,500 for Downs in the combined test, 1:50,000 in the Reflex test.

I had nifty twice which was available locally and affordable to me. Was happy with it.

We used Thisismy in Leeds and they were brilliant. They recommended the Serenity test and I think we got results in about 10 days but it was only that long as it was delayed due to the easter bank holiday.

Harmony at the end of last year. Results took just 5 days. Very happy with the service.
