Changes in moles during pregnancy?

Hello! I am 11 weeks and 2 days pregnant and upon looking in the mirror this morning, I found that a mole I had developed about three or four years ago has grown, but I believe it to be recent. I did the stereotypical measurements with a pencil eraser and it's about the same size, no bigger. Of course now that I know it is there, I am utterly stressed. I have an appointment with my obstetrician in about two weeks and I plan to ask him what he thinks of it, but I wanted more opinions! It looks a little darker but not by much and it has grown a bit.

Ultimately, I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this and if this is something I should definitely be concerned about.

I have a mole that's changed shape and colour in pregnancy too. I keep thinking I should probably get it checked out by the doc just in case but I'm sick of medical appointments! It'd probably be the wise thing to do though.

A question for your GP!

Do get it checked please. I had a mole change in pregnancy and didn't get it looked at until DD was about 10 months old. Turns out it was malignant melanoma which is the type which can soread. I'm still being checked every 3 months to make sure nothing else pops up, after having the mole, and a very large chunk of my arm removed.
If it had spread, maybe I could have prevented that by being checked earlier, it was silly of me not to.

I'm not trying to scare you, maybe my mole would have changed if I wasn't pregnant, but A check is usually quick and simple, even if they remove the mole to have a proper look at it, it's just a bit of local. Err on the side of caution.

I think this is common. I had a pre-existing skin tag/ moley thing that grew in pregnancy. I got it checked and it was fine, the GP said that they often grow during pregnancy - down to hormones I think.

I would definitely get it looked at though to be on the safe side.

Definitely ask your GP. Because of changes in melanine I have darker freckles and some skin tags but the size/ texture of moles (the ones raised up from skin) hasnt changed.
It is probably normal but you should ask

Thanks all! I have an appointment on the 16th so I'm thinking of asking then. Hopefully he'll relieve my stress on this possible issue!

Very normal and probably just hormones but definitely get them checked.

It might actually be a seborrheic keratosis (Google for pictures). I went to a dermatologist in my first pregnancy to see about what I assumed was a growing mole, but it turned out to be one of these (on cheek: got so big and unsightly I had it burned off with liquid nitrogen). In my current pregnancy I am noticing several news ones on face and body, as well as 'moles' (a little paler than my other moles) that have grown.

Apparently very normal due to hormonal changes in pregnancy (if you are one of unlucky people plagued with these things).
