Brown Discharge, 8+ weeks...

Hi Ladies,

I have been having brown spotting on and off since before I got my BFP, I had put it down to dtd and we have stopped for now until 12ish weeks or so.

However last time we dtd was Friday and I'm still getting some brown discharge intermittently when I wipe..Tried to get hold of mw today but had to leave a message as she's only at my surgery 3 days/week, and also waiting for a call back from the doctors on Friday...

Just wondered if anyone else has had the same? I had a scan on Monday and all was fine, but it's still a bit worrying..

Hi there! I had this from 6-7 weeks. Had an early scan and it was all fine. They couldn't tell me where it had come from but put it down to late implantation bleeding. This may be a long shot but are you by any chance on pregnacare branded vitamins? My brown discharge stopped IMMEDIATELY after I stopped using this and switched onto prescribed folic tablets. Either way I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, you could call your midwife if you're concerned though.

Sorry just realised I said to call your MW and you'd already done that. I'm sure if you've seen the scan and all is fine you can be safe in that knowledge:)

It's interesting you should say that about pregnacare, I am taking them, I might try some others just to check the theory!

If you Google it a bit there are many women saying the same about pregnacare I would definitely switch and see what happens, I stopped taking it and the day after the brown discharge disappeared. Haven't had it since!

I had brown discharge at 8 weeks, was given an early scan and all was fine. That baby is now a crazy 2 and a half year old!
I was told at the time that brown is much less concerning than bright red.
Speak to your midwife about it. If it's only happening after DTD it could be that your cervix is a bit friable?

Did you have a scan at the early pregnancy unit? You should still be on their books so could give them a ring?

No, it was a private scan. Hopefully mw will get back to me soon, if not doctor is calling on Friday. It's very odd, it comes and goes. I am less worried than if it were red, but concerned it might be an infection?

I think there's definitely something in the pregnacare theory...I was completely clear for the rest of the afternoon and evening yesterday, and this morning. Until I came to work, had my pregnacare, then went to the loo an hour later and low and behold, brown discharge!
My seven seas just arrived in the post, so I'll try those tomorrow and see if it makes a difference..

Sorry to jump onto this years later. I’m experiencing the same at 7 weeks. First MW appointment in 3 days. Hoping there’s no issues as the more I read the more anxious I get. Did a change in brand make a difference?
