Asking for a friend that doesn't use the website but knows i do. She's been told she'll have one,but has no idea what for or what one actually is. Googling and asking friends was no joy,so we thought we'd ask on here.

Never heard of a pre induction midwife

Sounds like it might be a student midwife? I.e. one that has not completed her professional induction period yet? I'm assuming it has nothing to do with induction of labour as that makes zero sense

OddBoots · 30/01/2017 09:54

I am only guessing but I would think it would be a midwife that would do some checks on the pregnant woman and unborn baby prior to starting an induction of labour.

Is your friend pregnant? Is she expecting baby soon?If yes, then it may be the midwife who does pre induction assessment.
Nevertheless heard this term tbh Confused

I don't think they have a specialist midwife for checking you prior to inducing labour. I've had two inductions, and it was just whatever midwife was on duty on the ward, nobody "special" came to do any checks.

MrsCharlesBrandon · 30/01/2017 11:32

3 inductions here and I've never heard of one either. Who said she'd have one?

Never even Grin

P.s. She said she's not being induced. She will have a planned csection as she's too tiny to carry the baby to term safely, but that's it?!?

might be to do a skin swab, check blood pressure etc before the surgery?

RebelRogue · 30/01/2017 16:48

No idea, passing all replies to her. She tried to ring and ask,but unable to get through to them.
