More out of curiousity than anything else :-). I am going to get mine next weekend I think. Will be 28 weeks pregnant and have just moved house so thought I would get it while I get everything else!

When she was about 4 months old. She was in with us before that anyway. We had to sort out the spare room before hand.

MrsNuckyThompson · 29/01/2017 17:27

We had the cot and furniture etc ready for when he was born but he slept in our room for 6 months. Still useful for all the clothes and toys and other kid paraphernalia. We didn't know sex so didn't decorate til after he was born.

Second baby due soon and we know this time so will decorate soon but equally know she'll be in with us for 6 months again b

sparklyuggs have you looked at transfers? You can get some really good ones and they don't mark the walls.

welshweasel · 29/01/2017 17:37

We did fish themed but there are loads on Amazon really cheap.

welsh we have just bought that cot and put it up today! Love the wall stickers too!!

RasperryInAMelon · 29/01/2017 17:43

Amy I'm the same, too excited, plus I like to be prepared and want to enjoy my Mat Leave before little lady arrives Smile

Sparkly it's the East Cost Fontana set. Wardrobe, cot bed and chest of drawers / dresser for about £540

Sparklyuggs · 29/01/2017 17:47

Thanks raspberry

Welsh thanks for that, I love the stickers and grey cot! Where is your cot from?

welshweasel · 29/01/2017 17:56

It's from Ikea. We have a chest of drawers that match and I think there is a wardrobe too.

welshweasel · 29/01/2017 17:58

It's the Gonatt. £170.

Sparklyuggs · 29/01/2017 18:14

Thank you! I'm feeling better about this, I live overseas and was getting down about the lack of choice of nursery furniture but both welsh and raspberry can be delivered to where I am.

Here a basic nursery set is over £1000...

Kelsey28 · 29/01/2017 18:31

SparklyUggs can you order from Babies R us? It's flat pack but it looks really lovely and do reasonable price bundles? I looked at silver cross cribs and they were the same price as a whole bundle from babies r us

The room already had walk in wardrobes and storage and was painted white so just put the cots in. They went in there at 6 months but had to separate DT's soon after as they woke each other up. They only spent the nights in there so didn't do any other decorating until they were about 3 and they helped choose their own designs.

RasperryInAMelon · 29/01/2017 19:27

Sparkly most U.K. Firms will do overseas delivery nowadays Smile

DS is four months and we don't have a nursery. He sleeps in his cot next to me and I'm planning to keep him there for a while.

We keep most of the baby stuff in the living room as that's where we spend most of our time. Even his clothes are kept in there as we had loads of unused storage. His changing table is in the corner and I'm very pleased with his lovely playgym which matches my curtains Grin

Sparklyuggs · 30/01/2017 06:17

Thanks everyone, feel like I have detailed the thread slightly. I will take a look at Babies R Us, weirdly some UK stores just don't deliver to us, I had fun and games at Christmas trying to get presents sorted!

Mol1628 · 30/01/2017 06:48

I've a 4yr old and 2yr old. Never had a nursery.

At first they were in with us then at about 1 year old they went into their room which was a cot, a chest of drawers and some pictures/mobiles on the wall to brighten it up a bit. They never spent any time in there apart from to sleep so didn't see the point.

Also never bought nursery furniture, just got normal stuff that'll last them as they grow up.

Had I made a nursery for my first born I'd have been disappointed. Just don't have time to appreciate it and babies don't care.

purplefizz26 · 30/01/2017 07:00

You'll get lots of "oh they don't need their own room for minimum 6 months" "don't bother, we could slept for 2 years" blah blah blah.

They have clothes, toys, loads of crap that accumulates once you have a baby. If you have a spare bedroom that will become their bedroom/nursery, and you feel like you want to decorate and get furniture go for it!

You can hang up and store clothes, keep nappies, wipes, other baby purchases in there. Then when the baby is here and you want to move them into their own room, and you probably wouldn't be in the mood to decorate and start building furniture it's all set up.

purplefizz26 · 30/01/2017 07:03

Co slept not could slept *

likeacrow · 30/01/2017 08:30

Sparklyluggs we live in rented and have decorated using wall stickers bought off Amazon super cheap. Apparently they come off without leaving marks. We hope!!

Joinourclub · 30/01/2017 08:33

Half finished it at 8 months pregnant. Baby is now 8 months old and it is still half finished!! So although you do not need it finished before they are born, as they'll be in with you for a while, you'll have a lot less time and energy to complete it once they are here!

jpeg28 · 30/01/2017 08:35

likeacrow I love those wall stickers!! I could do with something to brighten up the walls.
I just like to have a place for all the baby stuff... my OH is so OCD about having stuff in our living room... how that will change when the baby is born!! Grin

dontstopmovin · 30/01/2017 08:46

At 33 weeks...I suddenly feel like we just had to do it so DH worked really hard to get the decorating done, got it all sorted and DM came to visit to admire the difference finished room at 33+3...and then my waters broke that night!

Sparklyuggs · 30/01/2017 09:21

That's very cool like a crow

Sorry for hijacking the thread! I think for me as our house is rented and new I'm keen to sort out the nursery to make it feel like ours, if we were in the house we owned I'd probably be less bothered as we bought a project so put our stamp on it whereas the current rented house is lovely but very neutral rented house decor; so something like the wall stickers look fab.

CocoLoco87 · 30/01/2017 09:36

For DC1 we were renting so I bought some wall stickers from mothercare. The room was creamy neutral so I used teddy bear stickers to keep it all calm. We now own a house so DC2 has had a safari themed room. It's lovely and I really enjoyed picking out paint etc.

DC1 stayed in our room for a month and then outgrew the Moses basket so he had to go in his own room. There wasn't space for a crib or a side cot thing. DC2 is still in our room at nearly 4 months as our bedroom is bigger now. I don't want him to go to his own room! Every child / circumstance is different. Do what's right for you Smile

likeacrow · 31/01/2017 10:11

Thank you jpeg there are lots on Amazon Smile
