According to nub theory... I have no idea how it works !

I keep looking at these and I can never figure out what is meant to be the nub!

I think a girl too. The skull is soft and the nub runs in line with 'her' back rather than pointing up. Btw, I can never usually see he nub so could be a shadow which is in line with her back
