Low lying placenta..

I have my scan in 2 weeks when ill be 32 wks as at my 20 wk scan my placenta was low lying just wondererd if it is still low lying do they ask me to come back for another scan or will they be able to just book me in for c section? And has anyone had an internal scan slightly worried about that! Tia xx

No idea about placenta but internal scan is very little to worry about. It is way less invasive than a smear test or pelvic exam. It's a pretty narrow probe covered with a plastic sheath and some lubricant is applied. They don't need to go nearly as high or do half as much jiggling about as they do for a smear.

Internal scan is no drama, it's a bit odd but not painful or anything. In my experience they look to scan again at 36 weeks if no movement rather than moving to a c-section as there is still quite a high chance it will move. Good luck!

I've had an internal scan at 21 weeks to check on my low lying placenta and it was fine. You will have to strip off from the waist down but they give you a sheet of paper to cover yourself. They put in a sort of probe covered in a condom and just gently inserted it. I could honestly hardly feel a thing and it was over in about 5 mins. Try not to worry about it x

I'm having a scan at 32 weeks pg next week and they told me that if the placenta was still low lying they would just book me in for c section i.e they wouldn't do any further scans. I think there can be different types because i had low lying placenta with dc2 but only partial (it moved by 32 weeks) but this time its fully covering the exit so to speak. Last pg there was no mention of internal scan or booking in for section but this time they've said both might be required and I've also not been allowed to have sex since my 20 week scan!

Ah yeah mine was showing only partially covering but i reckon it might have moved down further as i feel her kicks really strong now and i dont feel any kicks low down at all where as with my lb he felt like he was kicking his way out! Guess ill just have to wait and see but i actually dont mind having a section this time!! X

With mine I was booked in for another scan at 36 weeks but had DS before then!
They'll do an internal if they can't see exactly where it is.
