Hiya,

Facts: last menstural period 12/07/16
EDD 18th of April
12 week scan changed EDD to 17th of April

I have put my scan EDD into two apps sprout and baby centre they suggest today I am 27+3
My midwife appointments followed the gestation dates on my apps.
However, I have recently seen my doctor and she used the spinny wheel to work out my gestation during the appointment she calculated me 27+3 last Friday (4 days ahead) I queried this during the appointment and she double checked and said that's what the spinny wheel said. I had to go back to the doctor (a different one) today I mentioned the dates and he said the wheel said today I was 28 weeks.

I know it's not a huge deal, but what do you ladies think? It's my second pregnancy and I know it becomes an issue if I go overdue. Do I bring it up with my midwife? Am I wrong?

Thanks!

by your doctor do you mean your GP? if so I wouldn't worry - the midwife will go by the due date from your dating scan

Dandelionrarrrr · 18/01/2017 17:52

Yes, sorry GP

The date on your notes will be what's relevant. He probably just took a quick look and said 28 and you are past 27.

GreenGoblin0 · 18/01/2017 17:53

sorry posted to soon - and it's the midwife who will be the one you refer you for an induction etc if you are overdue

Batteriesallgone · 18/01/2017 17:53

If you're worried you could check with your midwife what is down as your 'official' due date if you see what I mean. It's probably going to be the date from your scan.

As long as that's right in your notes it doesn't really matter in the interim I don't thik

drinkyourmilk · 18/01/2017 17:55

Scan date is what they go by for edd, at least that's what I was told by my midwife. She can't work her spiny wheel it seems so just asks me how far gone I am when I see her.

SprogletsMum · 18/01/2017 17:58

I'm due 19th April and am 27 weeks bang on today so you'd be 27+2 today surely?

Dandelionrarrrr · 18/01/2017 17:59

Thanks. Surely the midwife will go to the scan like you said.

yes they Def will go by the dating scan EDD thats what scan is for. I'm due on 4 April so exactly two weeks before you and am 29+2 so you will be 27+2

NameChange30 · 18/01/2017 18:10

You go by the 12 week scan (it's not called a dating scan for nothing!) If you want to keep track of how far along you are in weeks and days, you could use a pregnancy app like Ovia - you just put in your due date and the app does the rest. Then whenever you see a midwife or doctor and they ask how far along you are, you can easily answer them with confidence, and they won't need to bother faffing about with wheels and getting it wrong.

Dandelionrarrrr · 18/01/2017 18:38

That's what I did with my sprout app but the gp seemed very dismissive. As long as I know my baby is correctly labelled the size of a cauliflower I'm fine ;). It's funny I always pick up a bit of politics between the gp and the midwives anyway so this may fuel their feuds
