Choosing a consultant at C & W Hospital

Hi!!! I´ve just found out this week I am pregnant and now I am completely lost. I need to choose one of the consultants at the C & W Hospital but I don´t know any of them. Could someone give me some advice and feedback? Consultants are: Keith Duncan, Nick Wales, Zoe Penn, Mark Johnson, Gubby Ayida, Guy Thorpe-Beeston, Martin Lupton. Many Thanks!!

Congrats on your pregnancy. Why are you having to choose a consultant at C&W? are you going privately?

Nick Wales and Zoe Penn highly recommended. Guy Thorpe-Beeston bit of an old buffer, probably fine but wouldn't be my first choice.
Dunno the others.

I'd choose Nick Wales - a friend of mine used him twice and he correctly diagnosed her complete placenta praevia and CSd her quickly and well when all the scans were showing nothing wrong. Good instincts and a nice man.

Heard fab reports about Marc Johnson. Rang his secretary when I was preg but his diary was full. Whoever you decide you have to do it quick.

Thanks everybody!! We are thinking of going pivately but not sure if midwife care at St. John´s or consultatnt care at C & W hospital. I am completely lost!!!

If you mean clinical, thorough and precise. Then surely that's what you'd want if the proverbial hit the fan. I couldn't have got a higher recommendation than from Alan Farthing the Queens gynaecologist they share consulting rooms at 148 Harley Street (specialist scanning and diagnostics opened by Duchess of Wessex. Deliveries at Portland and Kensington ward. But he gets booked up 8 months in advance!... so you may not get him. Check out Amazon he's written books on fetal medicine and scanning and lectures as well. If you can't get him ask his office for a recommendation. Tariq Mistry is his stand in at the same offices who is probably almost as good.
