Low amniotic fluid levels at 23 weeks

I've had a scan this morning that showed that my amniotic fluid is a bit less than it should be.

The antenatal clinic have organised for me to see a specialist consultant for a more detailed scan of the placenta etc. on Saturday.

In the meantime I'm going to worry myself sick. I've already made the mistake of Googling so I don't need to hear any more horror stories!

If anyone has any positive experience of this or can offer any advice I would really appreciate it.

Bear with me whilst this story starts negatively.....

My waters broke very early on and so the level was low - at 21 weeks my level was so low they suggested it may be best to end the pregnancy as her lungs wouldn't develop properly ( 23 weeks is much better!) I declined and thankfully she was born at 35 weeks perfectly healthy.

I would say def push to see the consultant ASAP and remember sometimes the AFI can vary based on when baby pee'd last and their position!

I did have this with my daughter at 27 weeks. She also measured small.

My levels continued to be low for a good few weeks but baby was happy, weekly scans showed placenta was sufficient.

She continued to grow at a slow rate and I was given steroids as a precaution in case of an early delivery.
Fluid levels still contained to be low, so I made sure I rested and drank plenty. Not sure if it helped or not but by 35 weeks or so she picked right up alongside the amniotic fluid levels which were now in normal range.
She ended up being overdue and perfectly healthy.

I'll make a point of keeping well hydrated between now and Saturday and cross my fingers that the scan on Saturday is more reassuring.

I haven't actually leaked much so I don't know why it is low. Perhaps the consultant will be able to shed more light on it.

I had the opposite problem at my 24 week scan and one baby had too much fluid. I had a detailed scan a few days later and everything was fine and the fluid levels were normal. I was told that the fluid levels can fluctuate a bit x
