Bed nest rental

Anyone done it? Would you recommend? If not, why and do you have an alternative suggestion? I like the idea of being able to return it rather than store it once finished with it as we don't have much storage space.

Friend has loved hers for her little one, who's now 4 months- we were talking about it the other night. She's actually really dreading when he gets too big for it. She wasn't intending to cosleep but says it's so easy to settle him by feeding and sliding him back etc

Am considering. Still have a while to go though

Had it for both of mine. Loved it the first time but the second time it began to annoy me - it was a bit clunky and the side could no longer be opened in half - would have gone for a different brand

I think the side no longer opening in half was in response to a safety issue wasn't it, having looked at the website

Yes, having checked, they stopped the half closing side as there was a risk of babies rolling and getting their neck over the side, leading to death or injury

Yes, I know they modified the design after a horrible accident so will definitely be renting/buying the new version which doesn't fold half way.

There isn't any option to get the old version anyway now- was explaining change to Caz who said it was annoying

I'm about to go measure our bed frame to see if this is an option

You can buy the old version on eBay and other buy/sell sites still actually. Obviously no longer available to rent tho.

We had one and thought it was great, it was as the issue with safety was ongoing, so they sent us a little kit to convert it so the side wouldn't go in half.

Would def get it again for baby no 2. Worked really well for us, remember when the midwife came to see us in the week after birth baby was fast asleep in the bednest, me next to her in bed with cup of tea, she thought we looked very well set up together. Nice memory!

And we managed to keep using it until maybe 5 months or so. She went fine into her own cot.

We're using it now and it's great as I'm not having to get up and down in the night.

We had one for DD and I have gone for a Next to Me instead this time. I don't know if it was an old frame, but the height adjustment was very stiff and it was difficult to get the right heights at both sides. One of the tabs holding the side we didn't use regularly frayed and the panel had to be replaced.
I ended up buying a small cot at 3/4 months because it was really narrow and DD kept bashing her hands off the sides then waking up.

We had a Snuzpod for our daughter, she was in it until 7 months when she went next door. I'd had a section and was breast feeding & found it a godsend at night - could literally scoop her across to me to feed. It was very roomy & I felt she was quite safe in it. Well worth the money in my opinion. Think we got from Toys R Us & they had an offer where you got the matesss for free. Worth a look. Good luck :)
