I've been offered an apprenticeship as a hair dresser, iam 10weeks pregnant tomorrow but should I tell the boss that I'm pregnant or should I leave it until I start to show? And is it safe to do so?Hmm

I would tell them as you'll be on your feet a lot and may be asked to mix dyes etc- which given there is controversy about using hair dye on pregnant ladies, could be an issue.
You will also have a scan appt soon that you will need to attend.

I really want this apprenticeship 😲 I'm scared they won't take me on..
But obviously my baby comes before anything ATM

You can start it and then when you need maternity leave the training provider will put you on a break in learning which pauses the programme. When you come back, you start it again.

They must not discriminate against you because of the pregnancy. That's the law. Although can be very difficult to prove I believe

Yes, if it's offered, it can't be retracted for pregnancy reasons. You need to tell your employer though to allow them to complete a risk assessment with you: remember that hair qualifications will inevitably mean that you Coke into contact with chemicals (peroxide for example) and so they will need to ensure your safety.

OP did you tell them? My girlfriend has just gone through this, she was offered a childcare apprenticeship and as soon as they found out she was pregnant the offer was taken away, the reason given was that the course is a full 12 month and can't be paused to allow for her maternity leave. We are unsure if this is correct or not. Told to come back when she's had the baby

If it has been offered then I don't think they can retract their offer based on you being pregnant. is there any chance you can be fast tracked so that you can complete the majority of it, if not all before the baby is born? I was in a similar situation and was put through my apprenticeship a bit quicker so I got my qualification before I gave birth x

I am in the same position at the minute!
So I'm just following this!
Congrats by the way
