I've just had my baby and she's 3 months will be 4 months in January . I am breast feeding. When I had her I didn't stop bleeding until end of November and I was spotting on and off in that month.
My partner and i had unprotected sex 2-3 weeks ago. I have started spotting a few days ago not continuously but on and off and I have noticed very minor cramping... could I be pregnant ??

Of course you could be pregnant, you had unprotected sex. You can get pregnant when breastfeeding.

If you are exclusively breastfeeding day and night then it's unlikely you are ovulating but everyone is different. Some women get there cycle back straight away, I didn't have periods for 18months while breastfeeding but we didn't take any chances. Think you will have to take a test to find out. You can take the mini pill when breastfeeding or use the implant or coil, I didn't because I don't deal well with hormonal contraception so it was condoms for us.

It totally depends on prolactin levels. I had my baby at 31 weeks and was expressing milk day and night for the first couple of weeks, then when I got the supply up in storage I started to skip expressing and I ended up having a period so had obviously ovulated. I started to breastfeed exclusively when my baby was allowed home and I've not had another since. But she feeds so regular, like hourly even through the night. It is meant to be unlikely when exclusively breastfeeding but I've also seen it happen lots of times, there is a chance. You need to do a test to rule it out.

Thanks everyone

I know it's possible to get pregnant whilst breast feeding and I do only breast feed. I have never used the bottle. I guess I will have to do a test to find out. . !!

When they say exclusive breastfeeding may stop conception they mean no expressing, no soother, but it is always possible.

I breast fed and had my period return after 6 weeks, it is possible you are pregnant!

Exclusively breast fed first lo, bled for 8 weeks then nothing. Got pregnant when lo was 12 weeks old. 12 months between them!!!!! Fed all through my second pregnancy and didn't even realise I was pregnant until about 11 weeks, emergency scan revealed I was 12+3!!! Good luck. X
