How many weeks for a sweep?

Just wondering how many weeks you need to be for the midwives to offer a sweep?

I'm consultant led but still see a midwife weekly after my consultant appointments. 38+5 weeks and feeling a bit fed up now!!

I'm in Scotland and my MF wouldn't do a sweep until 40+7 Hmm

Good luck!

I was offered one on my due day (Wales)

I had them from 37 weeks both times but was induced 37+6 due to health problems each time too. (Wales)

40 weeks I believe for a normal pregnancy. I was only offered one at 38 weeks once induction had been booked. In my trust a midwife can't perform one before 39+ weeks unless she has permission from a consultant.

Think it depends on your midwife and personal circumstances.

Earliest I got one was with my second baby at 40 weeks. They can only really perform a sweep if the cervix is 'favourable'.

I've heard of others having them before due date for things like spd.

girlelephant I'm in Scotland too, 40+7 seems so far away!!

I have a low platelet count so can't have a spinal/forceps/ventouse but induction's never been mentioned, I just get monitored.

I'm at that stage now I feel like I will never give birth Sad

I was offered one on my due date, and I quote, "do you want a sweep today?... Nah, you don't want that!" and she was right, I didn't Grin ended up needing one though...

Down in the south. Midwifes can't do them before 40 weeks. Any earlier and it is done by the consultant. I know as I only asked my midwife on Monday if she could do one when I was 38 weeks.

Scottish Borders
I got one at 41 weeks
Did absolutely jack shit

I had one done in the maternity assessment unit at 37 weeks, I was there due to reduced movement and the monitor picked up contractions so she had a check and as I was 1cm she offered a sweep whilst she was there. I had my next one on my due date...
