Just wondered whats the earlist anyone got thier pregnancy symptons.
Is it possible to get them even before your period is late as in the sickness and tiredness. If you did get them so early was it twins?
I know some people say they just knew on conception, but how did you know?

Well its been half an hour and no change Toothache, so will so second in a few days. You must have gone from gutted to estatic in that half hour. Ive heard there can be a wrong posotive reult but never a wrong negative result so i am doubtful. It is making me think alot about what i want though as you can imagine. And my tea still taste like a cup of iron even though changed milk and rinsed out kettle.

CP3 · 03/07/2004 16:31

Toothache how faint?

Toothache · 03/07/2004 16:34

CP3 - I wasn't gutted when it was negative coz I hadn't missed a period or anything. We'd just that week decided to start ttc after Chirstmas! I did the test after a few glasses of wine one evening when I was bored and they were just lying there.. LOL!

Don't know why I pulled it out the bin leter though.... and it was VERY faint! It was stronger 2 days later and that's when DH started to believe me. It was a boots own brand test.

How come?

Toothache · 03/07/2004 16:35

Should've pointed out that this was in November.

CP3 · 03/07/2004 16:39

Does November make a difference them . There is a faint line but its opposite way which apparently means negative too

Toothache · 03/07/2004 16:42

lol CP3 - I just mean this I found out in November just as we'd decided to wait until after Christmas to ttc.

If the negative line is really faint then perhaps the test hasn't worked very well? I have no experience of those tests which show a cross. The boots one is just simply "line = +ve, no line = -ve".

You've got the other one there haven't you? Maybe you should just do that one now.... or if you can wait, try it tomorrow morning?

mummytosteven · 03/07/2004 16:45

CP3 - it's the other way round - you can't get a false positive, but can get a false negative - e.g. if you have tested too early for it to show. Some brands of test vary in sensitivity - e.g. First Response is very sensitive as it detects positive from a few days before period.I've always found Boots pretty good as well. If you don't get AF in a week, get some more tests! A blood test is the most accurate way of detecting early pg.

CP3 · 03/07/2004 17:08

OMG its there on the 2nd one. Bloody faint, really faint but def there. OMG. Compared to the first one its really noticable but just looking at it you can hardly see it. OMG

jampot · 03/07/2004 17:23

Congratulations CP3?????!!!!

Toothache · 03/07/2004 17:24

AAAAAAAARGH!

Are you happy?? Sad?? Have you fainted?????

sponge · 03/07/2004 17:32

Crikey, one thread and two new pregnancies. How exciting .
I don't know why they sell single pregnancy tests. Even if you get an obvious positive with the first one IME you always do a second to be sure .

Toothache · 03/07/2004 17:37

Sponge - Unless you are neurotic and do 8.... like I did!!!

CP3 - Are you there??? Have you told your DH??

mummytosteven · 03/07/2004 17:41

Congratulations CP3 - have you got over the shock yet? Didn't expect to be proven correct about false negatives quite that quickly

CP3 · 03/07/2004 17:44

OMG

Toothache · 03/07/2004 17:46

Oh dear... are you okay? Did you say your ds is only 9mths old at the moment?

CP3 · 03/07/2004 17:46

Im here, in shock. But with this wierd smile on my face like ive won the lottery and im the only person that knows. God i didnt even want another.

Not told anyone expect you lot so keep a secret please. I want to be absolulty certain and check all is ok cos of the AD's im on. Also want to do a few hundred more tests, just to make sure.

CP3 · 03/07/2004 17:47

i have a 2 year old DD(only just 2)a nine month DS.

Toothache · 03/07/2004 17:48

lol CP3 - You had me worried for a minute there! I had images of you screaming like Homer SImpson and running down the street shouting "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". When will you tell DH? What d'you think he'll say?

Toothache · 03/07/2004 17:49

Ah, all 3 nice and close together! Just think how quiet it'll be in 5 yrs time when they are all at school.

Which AD's are on?

mummytosteven · 03/07/2004 17:50

I was in shock for at least 48 hours after BFP - so could be a while yet before you get over the initial blue line. I took Prozac from 30 weeks PG - I know its OK for second and third trimesters. Docs are always v v careful about prescribing in PG, particularly 1st trimester. Are you on Prozac/SSRI or something different? If your GP is not comfortable with you taking ADs when PG, and you don't want to stop, ask to be referred to a psychiatrist.

CP3 · 03/07/2004 17:51

DP will be pleased as punch. Its me that needs to get used to it. Im on fluoxetine. Dont need it at mo, got a head rush iyswim.

Not gonna tell Dp yet, till im sure.Really bright brilliant blue line sure

Toothache · 03/07/2004 17:52

Bet you get nice a bright blue line if you do another test with your first pee of morning tomorrow.

CP3 · 03/07/2004 17:58

What shall i do about the fluoxetine/prozac toothache? Anyone?

Toothache · 03/07/2004 18:00

I'd phone your GP's surgery just now. I'm sure a GP will be able to speak to you.... if not phone your local hospital and ask to speak to a midwife. They should be able to give you some immediate advice. I'd say just carry on taking them at the moment, but make an appointment with the GP for as soon as poss. It could do more damamge to just stop taking them IYKWIM.

Congratulations by the way.

mummytosteven · 03/07/2004 18:03

Go to your GPs/phone them as soon as to discuss it with them. I took a week of Celexa before I found out I was PG - doc said to go off them, but I could take something if I had probs later in PG (which I did). There has been more research on Prozac than on other SSRIs afaik - they did a study on kids 18 months to 7 whose mums took Prozac whilst PG and they were all absolutely fine. With things like Prozac it is a balancing exercise when PG coz they are so ultra cautious - i.e. nobody will ever say - yes, 100% take Prozac when PG or no, 100% you must never take Prozac when PG - a lot will depend on your individual circumstances and your docs opinion. If you don't get side effects from missing a dose, there's no harm in missing a day, say if you will have a docs appointment tomorrow. Equally I don't think one or two tabs more or less would make much difference in the scheme of things. sorry I'm not being more helpful
