So..... I'm supposed to massage the area to loosen it, but do Kegels to strengthen it.

Are these two things not counter productive?

What do you think?

How do we know if we are even doing either correctly?

Kegels strengthen your pelvic floor, which is the muscles that support your bladder, bowel, vagina etc. The perineal massage is supposed to reduce the chances of tearing.

Really good, regular and frequent pelvic floor exercises are really important to help prevent prolapse or continence problems (as well as reduce spd). The massage is not so important in my opinion.

Thank you BBQueen
So Kegels don't effect the Perineam muscle at all?
