I've just received a phone call from my doctor informing me I need to be put on 5mg of folic acid instead of the 400 I've been taking for the past 2 weeks, I'm 11 weeks and 4 days so now I'm panicking I've not had enough for the recommended 12 weeks, he's giving me 84 tablets so I guess I'm taking them until further into my pregnancy? I'm worried now I've not done enough as I've got history of neurological disorders in my family. Anyone had anything similar?

Thanks for the quick reply, can I ask how far gone are you? Do you still take it?

im 22 weeks, I'm also on aspirin and vitamin D, i persume i take this till i give birth as they have suggested i will have to take a prophylactic dose of clexane (blood thinner) after birth.

Its to prevent preeclampsia i believe.

Hi, I take 5mg daily and have for years as I am deficient because my body doesnt absorb it well from my diet. A few weeks before I caught pregnant I had came off some other medication so got out of the routine of taking them and missed taking mine quite regular (some times over a week at a time) when I found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks (a wonderful surprise) i was awfully worried that id not been taking it and my body not absorbing from diet. I went to my much awaited 20 week scan yesterday and everything looks perfectly normal including spine and brain thankfully. Try not to worry yourself too much. Hope this helped
