HAIR REMOVAL CREAMS IN PREG/B4 LABOR?

Hi there ive seen people discussing whether or not to shave in preparation for the hospital but I was just wondering is it safe to use hair removal creams??? Im 37 wks and want to sort myself out down there just incase i go at anytime, last time i tried to shave I cut myself all over the place, dont trust DH with machine either...so easiest option wud b hair removal cream but I remember people telling me when I first got pregnant that its not good to use in preg. Cnt find much abt it on net other than no studies have been done so its best to avoid,but maybe thats companies just covering themselves. Dont really care how I look during labor but would be nice to be slighlty neat.

I used Veet last week for the first time since becoming pg. Usually I'm fine with it but it made me very red and itchy.

Was on my legs however

I recently bought a rechargeable ladyshave thing called Bikini Perfect (I think it's made by Philips), and it's great. It has 3 interchangebale heads - adjustable length trimmer / shaver / epilator - and is really good. It has a nice slim head and is easy to use.

Im 37 weeks too and had the same thought this week...so i got busy with the veet. However I now look quite like a pornstar so Im hoping some grows back before labour starts...Can't see my fanjo at all and despite using a mirror Ive made rather a pigs ear of it...so hope you manage better lol.

Ooo - Eaglebird, I have been thinking about those things. More details please!! How close is the shave? Does it give you a rash? (Are you sensitive there usually? Because if I use a normal razor I get a rash). I usually get it waxed but for some reason I feel a bit funny about getting a beautician to do it while I am pregnant...

thanks for the tip EagleBird... I've been having a look at some reviews and it seems like a good product. I think I'm going to give it a go - well, maybe hubs will (currently at 39 weeks!!) which I prefer over the wax that I have been putting off.

No rash but a pimple or two which went away... rather bristly now lol. I also have a remington bikini line trimmer which is almost the same as a blokes beard trimmer which is good for just strimming the area when its all got a bit out of hand.

I was inspired to tidy up because DH, who never seems to notice or comment on these things, came in the bathroom as I was clambering out of the bath said 'look at that belly!, and look at that hairy floo!'
It must be bad if he noticed so...

Aquasea. The shaver head gives a very smooth result.
I must confess I normally just use the trimmer head & epilator head though. I have a trim to stop the hairs getting too long, and use the epilator head to pluck out anything that pokes out of my knicker legs.
I do sometimes get a bit of a rash when some of the plucked-out hairs start to grow back, but if you give the plucked area a good scrub with one of those plastic body puffs each day it seems to stop any ingrowing hairs and rashes.
I've never had a bikini wax before. I couldn't bear the thought of showing my fanjo to a beautician .

excellent thx for the shaver recommendation - sound like the perfect solution. Been pg for the last 2 years and though I used to be a big wax devotee, no way that's happening anytime soon

Ah yah big buncha jessies!! Get it waxed! I did, and what's more embarrassing, is that I earn my living as a therapist, and spent many months of my pregnancy at odd angles trying to wax around bump!!!!

Tried the veet! u know those wash off in the shower ones,didnt leave it on for too long,everything came away easy but with slight layer left so not baldy chicken and no rash or itch. Used the finishing cream just incase. I tried sitting in mirror using a scissors to trim but the veet really made all d differnce and no embaressment of sum1 else helping!
