I'm 5w today and already this little bean is messing with me... just as I was coming to terms with a sober festive season, it turns out even a weak coffee in the morning is off the cards for now, feel so queasy after just having one! I hope this wean appreciates these sacrifices...

Aww yes they steal your soul and drain you the queasiness is awful just when you think you are coping it waves over you again. Hopefully you can enjoy your coffee again, congrats on your pregnancy

I've been there. Within days of finding out I was pregnant, I went off eggs, tea, garlic, onion, spicy food...pretty much everything actually. Oddly enough I've had cravings for white wine and camambert obviously I've not indulged. I'm now 30 weeks and a lot of my aversion's did ease up for a few months. I can eat curry, eggs, etc. It will get better

I remember being so sick with DS1 that I swore (while hugging the toilet) that he'd be grounded until he was 16 😂 I lost weight in the first 6 months instead of gaining it! DS2 was the same, DD slightly less bad. I'll make the most of telling them when they're older 😂

Lots of pregnant women drink a small amount and there is very little evidence that a tiny amount of alcohol would damage your baby. For example I had one glass of wine with my Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. With both my pregnancies I allowed myself one unit of alcohol on special occasions like birthdays or my wedding anniversary. Neither my children have any learning difficulties.

Your child/baby will never appreciate any sacrifices you make until he/she has their own children. Children tend to be ungrateful little sods. Ask your parents if you don't believe me.

Ha thanks so much for all of your well wishes and solidarity! It's so nice to be on here and part of this community, certainly makes it far less isolating especially because it's only myself and DH who know! Feel like this is the only other place I can talk about all this stuff and it's lovely.

I went off chicken. The thought of it made me heave. It lasted until dd was a few months old.

I didnt drink coffee until i was pregnant used to have the urge for coffee went right off tea though

Before being pregnant I would drink maybe 4-5 cups of tea a day. For the first few weeks I couldn't drink tea as I would feel sick about 20 minutes after it. I have switched to decaf with the odd full caffeine one here or there. Now at almost 13 weeks I have got to the stage I can drink tea again, not always first thing but getting back to it.

Hopefully your coffee problem is short lived too and you feel better soon.

Yes I also drank occasionally when pregnant if I fancied ie a small glass champagne at a wedding or a small mulled wine at Xmas. I think very occasional isn't going to harm at all, those with fetal alcohol are from parents generally drinking every night and a few glasses at a time. One mild drink ( ie not shots), every 6 weeks or so is OK

Children empty your bank account, wreck your home, make it impossible to have cheap holidays and generally turn your life upside down. Enjoy your last childless Christmas. Ha! Ha! Next Christmas you will have a cute little baby. In Christmas 2018 you will have chaos on legs.

I rarely drank tea until I got pregnant! Went right off chocolate though, still haven't quite recovered my love of it.
