It's my due date tomorrow and have no signs of labour whatsoever, haven't even had a show yet just occasional braxton hicks and baby is very very active? Anyway I'm going to the birth centre for a sweep tomorrow but I'm worried I won't be considered 'favourable' or that I won't be dilated at all. It's my first baby also. Has anybody got any experiences of successful first sweeps? I'm getting anxious x

Had mine at 41+ 0 and had contractions 3 hours later and he was born 6 hours after that. I'd had no Braxton hicks, no tightenings, no mucus plug but was apparently 1-2cms already so was obviously on the way!

I had sweeps from 38wks in 4th pregnancy, but the sweep at 40+3 only worked as cervix was favourable. So it depends really on ur cervix. Good luck and fingers crossed cervix is ready 👍

Yes, it works and quite painful. I would wait another week or two.

Had a sweep day before my due date at 2.30pm, contractions started at 6.30pm, baby was born at 1.30pm the next day, her due date!
Deffo worked for me!
SIL had 3 sweeps and it was a week after the last before she had my niece, she was induced eventually!

How are you feeling after your sweep? I have mine next Friday and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be a success!!

Keep us updated!!!

Thanks for your responses. I don't want to wait any longer as I have had a bad pregnancy and what with it being so close to Christmas I want to get things in motion as I'd like to be home before Christmas and settled with my baby. Fingers crossed it will work for me! Nervous for tomorrow xx

I had a sweep at 37+6 at 9am. Waters broke at 11am, baby arrived 4 hours later.

If your cervix is favorable (and mine was, I was already 3-4cm but didn't know it) it can work very well.

Fingers crossed for you, I was due yesterday but when she tried to do a sweep she said the baby wasn't engaged enough so she couldn't do it! I was so disappointed.
