Labour confuses me

I'm so bloody confused. Iv been having regular pains since about 9 last night, only a couple an hour but more than just uncomfortable, felt really off all afternoon/evening, felt really sick and kept going dizzy and was shattered but couldn't get in a comfortable position. My tummy is tightening internally to me, but it's still not hard as stone on the outside. The pain is right through my lower back and then seems to radiate up and down my bump and never seems to last more than a minute or so and even though he's been 3/5 engaged for weeks he feels much lower too. I'm 36+5. I suffer quite badly with anxiety and have been convinced that I'm over reacting about everything and that I'm going to get checked out for nothing far too much and need to chill myself out

It sucks doesn't it! I was very stop start in labour and had a 'false alarm'. I had a lot of Braxton highs which really really felt like labour.

Try not to think about it, you'll know when it really is labour. No need to get it checked unless your waters go or you have regular contractions. Try to keep busy and keep your kind occupied. Rest as much as you can. Easier said than done in the later stages I know!

All these tightenings will be doing something so try to stay positive and just let your body 'go with it'. Read up about others' experiences of it helps - many women have days (even weeks sorry!) of latent labour symptoms before things kick off properly. I did - and then had fast labours perhaps as work had already been done in preparation.
Anxiety won't help you - though I appreciate it's a nerve wracking time. See the mw if you are concerned or feel things are happening. Even if they aren't you won't be the first pregnant women to ask, and the mw may put your mind at rest.
My advice would be to look after yourself, rest, be confident that your body is doing what it was built to do and focus on a positive outcome in a few weeks max.
Good luck!

I had this the other day and the pains kept stopping and starting but they felt more internal than anything and were in my back and like a period cramp. They got further apart and stopped that night and haven't been back since 🙄

Dontwannabeabadmum · 15/12/2016 14:50

I feel your pain!! My pains are hard going and I think "this is it!" And then I get up, have a walk around the lounge and they fizzle out :( It feels like the baby is trying to push out of my belly, she wants out haha

Dontwannabeabadmum · 15/12/2016 17:26

Yep feels like he's trying to burst out all the time!! Between that and the using my pelvis /bladder as header practice!!

When I stand up I can feel all the pressure and my poor bladder can't take much more either !

Dueindecember2016 · 15/12/2016 18:54

I go for a wee as I feel like I'm busting and it's just a trickle. I really hope her head is engaged enough to have my sweep. Or even better that she comes on her own next week

Nikki2ol6 · 15/12/2016 19:16

I'm the same but last night I woke up to pee and it really hurt like it felt like my bladder was just going to explode on my way to the bathroom and when I got there and had my pee I think it's the biggest pee Iv had in months lol

Dueindecember2016 · 15/12/2016 20:01

HAhah!! I only get big wees when the baby moves on to my bladder. I once thought it was my waters going.
