Low dose aspirin

My consultant has prescribed me low dose aspirin 75mg to take throughout pregnancy due to high BMI and first time pregnancy. I wouldn't normally question the doctor but not a tablet has passed my lips since I got pregnant (except pregnacare) and I am really worried about starting to take something potentially harmful to the baby every single day.

Does anyone else take aspirin? Am I worrying about nothing?

It's very normal to take low dose aspirin in pregnancy as it dramatically reduces the risk of a miscarriage by stopping clots forming. This is a high risk when you have a high BMI. What is your BMI now?

I take it due to raised BMI and has done since 12week. The aspirin help the blood flow and perfusion of the placenta. Its also used to prevent preeclampsia i was told. I was also told i would need to take a clexaine injection afterwards too. (clexaine is a proactive blood thiner, just like asprin) Asprin is also used to treat woman who have had multiple misscarages, as explained it helps the perfusion of blood flow allowing the embryo a better chance.

I was also put on a higher dose of folic acid and vitamin D. All normal for my trust.

Hope that treasures your little :)

I'm also on it since 12 weeks (37 weeks now) for high bmi and first baby - I spoke to gp about it as I was concerned about taking asprin and being asthmatic and the gp was very explicit about the dangers of pre-eclampsia and how taking a low dose of asprin is much much better than the risks to me and baby should pre-eclampsia develop. It seems common practice so I haven't thought much more about it and take it every morning after pregnacare. My bp has stayed low throughout my pg which mw is very happy about so I'm glad I've followed their guidance.

I'm on it due to age (41) and preecalmpsia risks. I'm 23 weeks now and all is fine.

I'm on it due to history of miscarriages, high blood pressure and a blood clotting disorder. 29 weeks now and all is ok so far.

I took it throughout (IVF pregnancy and previous MC). It was fine.

I'm also on low dose asprin and have been since I got my positive test. I'm on it for recurrent mc as instructed by my consultant.
