I'm just over 36 weeks and putting together my hospital bag, hopefully I have everything I need but not sure what snacks to take for during labour and after. What would you recommend?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We took flapjacks, crackers and lucozade (sport, the bottles are good to drink out of during labour) none of the snacks got eaten but we were only there 5 hours.

Oatcakes
Cashew nuts
Chocolate raisins

Cereal bars for me. I liked the nutrigtain ones with the gooey/sugary stuff inside after my labour.

For some reason, I also packed lots of boiled sweets that I didn't want at any point during or afterwards!

I've packed some paleo and eat natural bars

Anything with slow burn carbs.

Pretzels (I felt like I needed the salt afterwards)
Chocolate raisins (high calorie and easy to eat)
Kitkat (I normally boycott Nestle, but I gave myself a pass on that occasion Wink)

Tuc cheese filled biscuits Blush. By the end of pregnancy I was mad for these.

Jelly beans!!!

Drinks with straws, especially if you have gas & air, you'll feel parched. A few sandwiches and bananas maybe as well.

raviolidreaming · 11/12/2016 23:45

I'll be packing individual jelly pots, cereal bars, and isotonic sports drinks.

Dried fruit and nut mix, muesli bars and sesame breadsticks. Pretzels for salty cravings.

If you end up being induced (on a drip) the only things I was allowed to eat were non fizzy haribo and non fizzy lucozade. Might be worth having as back up.
