7 weeks (I think) & already showing?

Judging from my last period my doctor dated me as 7 weeks pregnant but my mum (and a few other relatives) have commented on my belly size, asking if I'm sure I'm only 7 weeks. My mum didn't show with her babies until she was over 4 months.

I no longer fit into my trousers and with all my clothes (even baggy ones) you can still see a bump. I had a stranger ask me my due date last night.

Is this normal for anyone else? Could I be more than 7 weeks? Could it be because I have more than 1 baby in there?

In my last pregnancy I had to stop wearing jeans at 7wks and when I got measured for a new bra, I'd gone up by 3 sizes! My mum said she didn't show until 7 months though. So yes it can happen. Mine was an IVF pregnancy and I think it was partly the extra drugs/hormones.

Have you been over-eating? Easily done when pregnant and dealing with morning sickness.

If not then are you very constipated? That can cause quite severe bloating, and is common in pregnancy.

MumBeth · 11/12/2016 10:56

Oh phew, I kept having nightmares about having hundreds of babies! Thank you

I would say 7 weeks is quite early to have a very apparent bump, but if you are very small made this could be why. Or yes you could be further on than you think. With twins you have double the symptoms so yes a bigger bump! Once you have a scan you will find out either way Smile

MumBeth · 11/12/2016 10:58

I haven't been over eating, no weight gained anywhere else (still got my thigh gap) and been passing usually too. Could be bloating though as that's what my Day by Day pregnancy book says is common. Just my mum said it was extreme for bloating.

Guess it's only a month till my first scan, just have to wait!

I def didn't have a noticeable bump until after around 15weeks though my trousers were getting tight long before then. We're all different tho.

peppatax · 11/12/2016 11:08

I was very big 6-11 weeks and nothing fitted and now 13 weeks and have seemed to slimmed/changed shape but not 'showing' whereas before I looked pregnant! It wasn't being bloated either so guess it can just happen. This is my 2nd - is this your 1st?

pinkieandperkie · 11/12/2016 11:08

Oh yes. With first dc my stomach ballooned pretty much from day one. I was huge. The other two dc nowhere near as much, I could still wear my jeans at 15 weeks. First child I had a daughter and then two sons.

MumBeth · 11/12/2016 11:16

Yes it is my first. I just assumed I would be the same as my mum

I was really bloated at that time with both mine, because I was mainly eating carbs! Once the ms went away I flattened out a bit!

idontlikealdi · 11/12/2016 11:30

I had twins and didn't show until about 18 weeks, I did quite a good layer of fat covering though:)

JustAnotherYellowBelly · 11/12/2016 11:33

Are you sure your period was definitely a period and not an implantation bleed of some sort?

Nikki2ol6 · 11/12/2016 11:35

It's not a bump it's bloating it should go down soon.

froglou · 11/12/2016 12:40

I got a little belly straight away which could've been bloating but it never went away and just kinda gradually turned into a bump, it's no indication of how big you'll be or how you'll carry either, im now 27 weeks and only have a small bump!

WantingBaby1 · 11/12/2016 13:22

I feel quite bloated too, and that seems to have gone yo my stomach. I'm 6 weeks. I wouldn't worry so long as you're getting all the vitamins etc you need and aren't putting on too much weight

bowchikkawowwow · 11/12/2016 14:22

Op I think I follow you on Instagram(?)BlushShock

Foggymist · 11/12/2016 17:50

Probably bloat this early, I had a bigger bloat bump at 9 weeks than I had at 20 weeks with actual baby.

BeamReach · 11/12/2016 18:42

If you ate mentioning a thigh gap I am guessing you are in the extremely thin end of body builds? This might explain why you can see a bump so soon.....

BeamReach · 11/12/2016 18:42

Ate = are

Difficultyear2015 · 11/12/2016 19:02

I'm small and clothes were uncomfortably tight at 7 weeks. Managed to hold off on buying maternity jeans until 11 weeks and was ten finally comfy.

I hadn't been overeating.

People kept suggesting I was further along too. It's just rudeness

phoebe2016 · 12/12/2016 12:02

Hi, definitely bloating at that stage. I had it terribly. I am 13 weeks on weds and getting a definite bump now, my waist is rapidly disappearing! First pregnancy I didn't show until 7months, which was mental! Lol. I feel. Big already this time (3rd preg) x

MumBeth · 12/12/2016 18:06

Thank you for all the feedback. Yeah I'm hoping it's just bloating but I'm going shopping for comfy clothes this weekend. The old hair band through the button hole trick isn't enough now.

I'm just about to turn 8 weeks and I look huge. It's definitely all bloating though. Or I hope haha. Xx

Wolverbamptonwanderer · 13/12/2016 12:43

The baby is minisule so can't cause a bump at this stage. I find it really odd when people say they are showing or have a bump so early. The bump is caused by the baby and placenta. Your 7 week old baby might be bigger than some 7 week old baby's but a 7 week old baby is the size of a bean. It can't cause a bump.
