tell me about your skin care routine for acne during pregnancy please. i've read that salicylic acid amongst other ingredients commonly found in acne treatments can be harmful in pregnancy so not sure what to use to control my horrible breakouts

I've had the worst skin since the beginning of this pregnancy and I'd usually be quiet used to using a strong percentage salicylic acid but obviously stopped long before getting pregnant! My skin got so bad recently I asked my dr for suggestions and he reckons a low percentage Salicylic acid face wash is ok. Apparently a percentage of 2% is low enough and once it isn't getting left of the skin for long.

I'm still deciding wether to listen to his advice or just stick the rubbish skin out Sad

which products are you using with low salicylic?

You can't take anything orally containing salicylic acid because the concentration is much higher and as you ingest it there's a chance it'll get to your baby. Applying it topically to your face in a cleansing wash or serum is fine though.

I used a glycolic acid balancing night serum (also contains some a small amount of salicylic acid) by Nip+Fab and it got rid of my pregnancy acne completely. They have a whole glycolic acid fix range. It's a little pricey but Superdrug have it all for half price atm!
