Bras

I was planning to get maternity bras once my normal (underwire) ones didn't fit - but I'm 28 weeks now and my boobs haven't grown at all. Should I be worried? Should I get maternity bras anyway? Have I caused my boobs not to grow by carrying on wearing underwires??

(38C, so hardly huge!)

I kept underwores all, through pregnancy with no problems, don't worry! And your bras won't have caused your boobs not to grow

I'm 28 weeks too and I only stopped wearing my underwired ones 2 weeks ago. I found the band had got tighter but my boobs themselves are the same (I was wearing a 34FF). If/when you do need to change I had a really good experience in Jojomaman;lovely shop assistant and came away with two bras that are super comfy and only £12 each Smile

I'm 37+2 and my cup size is still the same Hmm My back size has gone up hugely due to high bump so I've been wearing nursing bras in 3rd trimester as very few companies make B cups in a size 44inch back! They're not the prettiest of things but are very comfy, no underwiring yet feel good, just like an underwired bra and there's removable padding so I don't look flat as a pancake!

The way I'm looking at it, I am now ready for the nursing stage when babyBella makes an appearance and haven't wasted money on an interim bra.

I wouldn't worry about the underwiring, I think it's more about comfort than health reasons that people switch to non-wired.

I believe the idea for non-wired is to avoid damaging milk ducts as your breasts grow.

ConvincingLiar · 11/12/2016 09:48

It won't have prevented them growing. If you're comfortable, then you're fine.

Same here, so I'm wearing my usual bras at 32 weeks with bra strap extenders.

This is what my GP told me, but she also said that it's only damaging if you're wearing completely the wrong size and the wires are in completely the wrong place over your boobs and to carry on with my underwired bras as long as they were still comfortable.

Personal preference though Smile

I feel better after reading this as I'm 28 weeks and haven't grown at all!! Still comfortably wearing my normal bras.

FlipperSkipper · 11/12/2016 16:54

I'm 29 weeks and have only just ditched the underwires as my bump is high and they were getting uncomfortable. They weren't touching breast tissue though, which is where problems can arise. I've gone from a 34F to a 36E.
