Accidentally eating Camambert!

Hello everyone!

So last night my lovely husband cooked dinner for me, which was a pie from Marks and Spencer's.
It was really tasty, and afterwards I found out there was camambert in it.
I know that camambert is a no go during pregnancy (which I am 31+5), and now I'm really concerned! I've read online conflicting opinions about it being fine if it's cooked (which obviously it was frozen and then cooked).
I'm just looking for advice on what to do?! Freaking out a little bit!

Camembert is fine cooked. Stop panicking! Buy the pie again and enjoy it. Grin

Fine so long as thoroughly cooked (which it will have been!)

SaltyBitch · 10/12/2016 16:01

I'm going to go and buy one after reading this thread. Thanks OP!

You'll be absolutely fine.

The reason it's not recommended for pregnant women is not that it's poisonous or toxic. It's just that the nature of soft cheese means there's slightly more risk of it growing bacteria in it.

Besides, I just noticed you said it was cooked! So that makes it just as safe as any other food. In fact, the guidelines even say it's fine to eat it cooked too. My husband and I regularly eat baked Camembert and I don't give it up when I'm pregnant. Same with Gorgonzola melted into a sauce.

Fine if cooked

Phew, thanks everyone! My little heart has been racing because I've been panicking!

And by the way, it was really delicious Grin

I feel the need for a camembert pie now Grin

Ooh the beige unhealthiness.

OP, what else was in it?

MrsBellefleur · 10/12/2016 16:09

I ate a whole cooked Camembert with warm crusty bread the other week and I'm nearly 25 weeks pregnant. Cooked is fine!

Mouthfulofquiz · 10/12/2016 16:24

Tbh the risk from something bought in the U.K. Is so small. I just carried on eating as normal.

Jellybean91 · 10/12/2016 16:24

INeedNewShoes it had mushrooms in it, as I'm veggie. My husband told me it was cheese and mushroom pie, and I ate the whole thing up. It was really filled to the top as well, it wasn't stingy on the filling!! Would defo eat again, but I think I'll wait until baby is here for the next one Halo

It's fine when it's been heated. That's medical advice; conflicting "opinions" shouldn't form any part of what you can or can't do safely...

Missing the point of the thread but Camembert and mushroom pie..mmmm

You don't need to - it's fine cooked. I'm really strict with the guidelines and enjoying a baked camembert every couple of weeks Smile
