i had a consultant appointment on thursday (was 36+1 then, baby no.5)and when she listened to the heartbeat she said it was irregular and sent me for a scan as she said it is occasionally a sign of a possible heart defect.

the scan showed that everything was fine, and i was told to come back next week, but now i keep thinking about it.the mw said its just 'pne of those things' but its not something im familiar with and its got me worried there could be complications at the birth or something.

does anybody know anything about this as i need a bit of reassurance?

Hi sorry to hear of your worry but i am not really sure, you are best talking to your midwife again and tell her your worried. Write any questions you might have down so you dont come out thinking i wish i had remembered to ask that. I am sure all is ok and they would have told you straight if they were a bit concerned and at 36 weeks it must be alot easier to see as baby is bigger. Hope this helps and hope all is ok for you and try not to worry!

thanks for your reply.i doubt i'll see my own mw again now,i normally see the consultant every week till i deliver at the end due to my history of pih.i find it quite hard to understand the consultant as she doesnt explain things very well, and i normally have to ask the hospital mw what she was on about when i come out.the mw just asked if i'd been drinking coffee i'd had a cup about 4 hours before but i always drink coffee and would have always had some at some point before an ante-natal check.
